Anyone installed and ran a set of these calipers that are supposed to stop 35's? How much better are they and what is the price on them? Also how is the clearance on aftermarket wheels, the stock calipers always seem to rub just unless you run spacers. Would the increased stopping power in the front be too much of an offset on the rear drums and cause the rear to be under-braked?

Spoke with TLC today....they don't come cheap: $259.00 apiece w/o brake pads. They are machined aluminum and have 4 pistons vs. original 2 pistons. Direct bolt on, no mods necessary. Take stock Toyota pads. Said they work best with slotted rotors, but interestingly not quite as effective with slotted and drilled rotors.....go figure

Start savin' your pennies cowboys 'cause you're going to need 'em ;p

Why spend that much money when you can get brakes from a 4-runner for under $100 a pair? And from what I've gathered on this board and the web, install isn't too bad. I'm waiting on how Boston's set up turns out.

jeff

That price is freaking ridiulous!!!

thanks Jeff, i will be posting pics of my complete setup by the end of the weeek

thanks

Okay, who is TLC, I thought you guys were talking about Toyota Land Cruisers... now it sounds like you're talking about a retailer.

Not sure, how they compare against the "Monster" Calipers from TLC, but i am not going to spend that kinda $ to fnid out

IIRC, those TLC calipers had larger pistons than the 4Runner. IIRC correctly their calipers have 45 mm pistons, the 4 Runner has 40 mm pistons. But the info on the number of pistons is incorrect. All cruiser / 4WD Hilux front calipers have 4 pistons.

What surprises me is the info they gave dogboy2 that they use the stock brake pads, but I question the person providing the info as he said the incorrect number of pistons on the stock calipers.

To answer sixty, yes, the 4Runner calipers are the same as the T100 and in the 1990-1998 70 series. I think they are the same as the 91-92 80 series.
