Holy dredging up an old post Scott. That was from the first trip two years ago! I did do Monache and glad I did. Last trip with Dana.

I dug it up too - and actually just finished sending you a PM telling you that it might have been the funniest post on Mud - for us, but clearly not funny for you. Then I saw Scott's post and then yours.

Hehe.......

Please let me know if anyone is interested in going. If you don't let me know, feel free to show up, but you will need to find your own way in as we will be going in early and only come back out to meet people if we know that someone will be there.

what's the latest date planned now?

FYI, doing the trip again this year, Sept. 16-18th.

The current date is what I posted this year. Actually, it is really today though as everyone is going today.

Snooze you loose Eric!

Got back last night, one day early to play in a member/guest golf tournament over at Mission Viejo Country Club today.

Meadow is still very beautiful, but lots and lots of downed trees, including one blocking our way to the very back riverside campground. Pics to follow from Mark Warfield. Basically Ken and his friend Gary took a collapsible bow saw on one side of the road and I took my axe to the other side and we got it out of the way. Mark strapped the big portion of the tree out of the way with his truck and four of us strapped the piece we cut out by tug of war out of the road to get to camp!

Brent,
Can't wait for the pics. I will be up there next weekend. I pick up my A-Liner trailer from Deaver Suspensions tomorrow.

How were the crowds? Looking for a nice quiet spot to just chill, eat and of course drink:cheers:

Sorry to tell you that next weekend will be a f'ing zoo up there. Start of the hunting season and the meadow will be crowded with fools and nuts with guns!

Best to drive all the way thru the meadow to the river campsites. That will get you about as far away from the asshats with guns  as you can get. More quiet too as you are away from the trails, etc. too.

Truely wish I'd have taken at least my bow saw, if not my 14" chain saw for that log. Trails in are wide open and the Forest Service has done a good job of keeping the trail open. Still, in the three years going up in September, I've never see so many downed trees. We could only surmize that there were a lot of heavy wet snow falls with high winds to topple and snap that many trees.

Someone fixed their link, so I am removing the correction :-).

Jeez - I changed that about two minutes after I put up the original post. Give me a break! The JustRuns site suks! :flipoff2:

Remember, I'm an anal accountant - I tested my own link after I posted it! :D

Well, it was broken when I saw it, so you were not fast enough :-).

I plead the 5th with regards to comments on the web site and other related aspects. Remember, "no rules", "no politics" and all that? Do you have a "Anti-Sway Bar Disconnect"? It is just a Jeep thing that you wouldn't understand (I don't understand it either).

FYI, the planned date this year is Sept. 14-16th, so as to avoid possible scouting for hunting season in the area.

Good call. That will put you safely between archery and rifle season (starts 9/22). I hunt deer and I still don't like being in vehicle accessible areas during rifle season. Lazy road hunters get bored and start target shooting. I had a close call a few years ago, heard a loud snap whizz noise which was a ricochet maybe, not sure. Either way, it was f-ing close. Scary stuff.

Thanks, I had not thought of archery season!!

One time some clown (not hunting season) shot in our direction and we heard the bullet go through the tree branches above use. It look a couple of hours to get law enforcement out there (different area).

Yes, the current plan is the same as previous years with the official date of Sept. 14-16. I still also have more of the 7&7 :-).

Sounds good. Are you planning on going up Thursday afternoon or early Friday Morning to secure 'the site'?
