well, very tempted. Was very nice last time and good folks. Will try to arrange. More later.

[Damn cold at night though. Next time, let's make it midsummer?]

Midsummer is more crowded and there are more bugs. Dana always hated the cold, but this is when we managed to plan it for.

It all depends on your personal opinion. Dana had some really big sleeping bags.

I heard that a short time ago it was rather cool up there. It might be warmer or colder, but it is best to be prepared.

Who me - prepared? I pack enough stuff for three people!

I was not talking about you Brent. I think the "three" is a bit of an under-estimate, well, ok, not a bit, a lot :-).

If anyone else is interested in going, please let me know so that we will know to look for you.

FYI, doing the trip again this year, Sept. 16-18th.

I'm interested. I heard thru another thread on Expo that Monache is currently flooded.

But it should be openned by late July-Aug possibly.

Yes, that is true. I spoke to the Ranger a while ago. By September it should be fine, I hope. I am not sure of what area specifically is flooded. I would think that it is not the area in which we camp. The road across might be an issue, depending on the flow rate and what it has done to the depth.

I've got some soul searching to do today Dana. Supposed to be going on a scout canoe trip the same weekend...but, there's one 'scout' and I do put scout in ' ' because this kid is a holy jackass that I'd be willing to do time in the big house to rid this earth of the little brat. He's the reason I'm leaving scouting as an adult leader. I was stepping aside little by little anyway and this kid is just making it quicker. Unfortunately, he signed up for the canoe trip last night and I'd promised myself I would not attend any further outings if he was present. Given that canoeing 17 miles is work, especially with head winds, I was hoping the sniveling little jerk wouldn't want to 'work' and probably won't anyway on the trip. I feel sorry for his canoe buddies having to carry this asshat of an excuse for a kid.

If I don't go on the canoe trip, I may just get out of dodge anyway.

Details on the trip? Where is Monache Meadows anyway?

Edit - sae google earth - you approach this from the 395?

That is the funniest yet saddest s*** I ever heard. If this kid is half as bad as you say why the heartache. My gawd man you've paid your dues and given back. Life is short and you better than anyone should know that ...Go to Monarche, it's gorgeous. :)

Holy dredging up an old post Scott. That was from the first trip two years ago! I did do Monache and glad I did. Last trip with Dana.

BTW, Free 7&7 while it lasts up there. Last year people did not finish it, so I still have the bottle (not the 7up).

But, but, but...there were only three of us and IIRC one of you two didn't drink and I don't care for 7&7's either. :p

We'll just have to keep going to Monache until that bottle is gone won't we! :D

Excuses, excuses. Actually one did not drink, another does not drink much at all and the last person who drinks refused to do their duty and finish it off, so we will need to continue going until it is gone. I also understand that there is also an unopened bottle as well, but I don't have that.

I also realized that I really don't like 7up much at all, much too sweet. This year, I will get cans instead :-).

This is also why it is free :-).

Am I supposed to resemble that remark? :D

Damn glad you DON'T have that unopened bottle! That'd take the three of us at least 20 years to finish!

This looks like a fun trip, I'll put it on my calendar and see how the rest of the summer shakes out.

Not a 7&7 fan but I will drink Tequila.:D

I know that no one is going to drink the full bottle, so ...
