It been way to long since I've seen some club members faces and caught up on times gone by, so I'm posting this run in hopes to get some folks out. Lets get some dirt on the tires :) I figure we'll run through Rainbow falls and head up Missouri Gulch, make our way to Little Moab for anyone wanting to play on the ledges, then head back through Illinois and back out to Hwy 67. Whole thing should be about 6-7 hours, but there are exits for any time limit.

The trail is local out of Rainbow falls, suitable for stock rigs. May be a couple of places to worry about brush scratches. Having a CB is a major plus, and recommended by the club.

Meeting at the Western gas station in Woodland Park 9 AM Saturday.

Bring a lunch, we'll stop somewhere on the trial and do some bench wheeling! If the wife don't go, or brings her Jeep, I may have an extra seat for anyone who would like to ride.

Sounds like a good time. I'll have to wait and see what my daughter wants to do for deer hunting, she didn't get anything opening Saturday.

I should have the 60 back together and will need a test run to check things out. This sounds like the perfect run to make sure everything is working correctly. As long as I don't find a problem I will be hitting the play areas.

Forgot to mention I'll have the air tank available for club members.

CB's are unfortunately just like everything else in the world, you get what you pay for. I have personally had about five of the cobra 19's from Wally World and they never seem to last. I've had a cobra 25 soundtracker that's been a great radio for years, and even it just crapped out.

I'll be going with a cobra 75 wxst remote mount for my new jeep build. They sell those at 4 wheel parts here in town too. Matt (karas) also has a nice midland remote unit, maybe he can throw out a part number.

Yaesu make a great radio;)

Save the money, get your license and get a real radio, yes I am biased.

If I am there I'll try to remember to bring a spare CB handheld if someone needs one. Or maybe I can drop if off at Luke's even if miss the trail run.

I knew that was coming.... Remember, radios are recommended, but not required. Don't let that stop anyone from coming out and enjoying the fall weather and colors.

Ya I have the midland 75-822 remote unit that you can plug into a cigarette lighter or its battery powered. You can use the antenna that comes with it or mount an external. I did a lot of research and it was between this and a cobra. It's was easier for me to install and I can take it off and throw it in the glove compartment easier then the cobra as well as swap to a different vehicle. Everyone has an opinion on radios and ham is like the I-phone of radios and cb's are like the android. Lets see if that ruffles any feathers. Anyway I will most likely be hunting up there so I will keep my eyes open for you guys. Have fun

Doesn't ruffle any of my feathers, it is just inaccurate. No comparison between the two in capabilities. ;) Okay, I'll get off my soap box now.

Good luck hunting Matt, hope you get something.

Well, seeing as thought I have a $15 wally world tracphone, I guess I'll go the CB route for now.

However, I am intrigued by the HAM radio idea. I'll have to due a bit more research.

Karas, do you use the antenna on the hand held midland or do you use an additional antenna?

I almost pulled the trigger on the Cobra 75, but not sure I want to attach a CB antenna to the 100.

The Little Wil (by Wilson) is a good mag mount if you go that route. A few of us use those and you can get one in the $35- $40 range.

If you're comfortable with your vehicle offload, then there is no reason not to bring the kiddos. The trail is not that difficult, but there is one steep-ish climb. I'll most likely have my 8 year old daughter with me.

All CLC trail runs are family safe, and there is no beer allowed on the runs (even if I don't agree with it... Not even a little bit) :)

I'll be there, unless I decide to bring a trailer to pick up an old dirt bike, but maybe i'll just drag the trailer around if i do.
