What kind of software work do you do? Have a clearance?

I don't have anything in mind, but always have my eyes open. Good luck.

My squadron (22SOPS) might be doing another round of hiring for network schedulers (GS-12 so not bad money) in the spring/summer timeframe.

I know that doesn't pay the rent in February but it might be worth keeping an eye on. If you go to the USA jobs site it would be listed under "satellite network scheduler" or something similar.

No specific background required but some technical proficiency, prior military and security clearance would really help.

Damn :(
If you want to shoot me a resume, I'll keep my eyes open.

Sorry to hear about things, best of luck to you.

If any of you local (Colorado) people have experience in network security hardware I am always looking for good contractors (Juniper certifications preferred, Cisco also)

Clearances not necessary but would make some of my fed projects much easier. Travel will be involved but I have plenty of Colorado projects.

How hard is it to get the certifications? I've set up firewalls as an I.T. Contractor so that customers' networks met HIPPA compliance. Also did firewalls on UNIX for my own sanity. Did you mean hardware like encryption boxes and "stu's"?

Our engineers are all somewhat specialized. For example customers of ours come to use directly because we have deep knowledge in Juniper Networks.

It's looking more likely that they will re-advertize this job--good work/pay--might be worth looking into.

Of course, you'd end up working for me.....:crybaby:

It's official--we are re-advertizing for the GS-12 scheduler positions. We will probably hire 5-6. It is a really good and (more importantly) stable job with great benefits. If anyone is interested let me know--only ask that you be serious about staying for a few years.

What qualifications are required to do that job? Not that I have any experience at all, just curious.

Word on the street is they are looking to convert some of the contractor jobs at the Integrated Network Ops Center (INOSC) to GS civilian jobs...not quite sure how many/when etc. You watching USAjobs.gov closely, I presume?

I've been thinking I'm gonna use some GI Bill money and go learn welding at a community college

Good luck!
