Anyone have a good source for military tires? Thought I found some but deal fell short. Looking for the 325/85R16 XML or even som 11 r16 XL. I know there is a set of XL's in the for sale section of mud but they are in Cali and he wont ship.

Oh yea for those wondering there is a set of 5.29's already on the way.

I've seen/spotted a couple of 80's on these tires. I know this ain't no debate thread. but i'll give you my "spotting" experience with rock crawling these tires:
They suck

Even BFG AT's held to rock better than these military tires and makes them KM2's look like stickies.

Rob, by no means am I an expert, but I would think that the weight of the Michelins attacking the 5.29's would lead to a broken pinion. I think Slee even said something about it on a build where 37" Swampers were used.

The way you drive Rob, I would think you would want something wider. Those things doin 90 will handle like s***!

My thing is they are cheap and are radials. Not a big fan of wide tires the 15" wide ones on my truck now are a chore to drive on. Of course they are bias ply. Looking for a tall and skinnier radial option. Even though the pinion is a lot smaller with 5:29's I think something else in the drive line would go first. I could use cheap made in Tiawan birfield joints and they could act as drive line torque fuses.

How bout a 38 with a 24 inch wheel? Maybe this set up is more capable than a crappy military tire. Should I add the chrome spinners too?

That is the place I found. I placed an order for 5 but they are currently out of stock and waiting for a container. They should be in by the first of March.
Talked to him and he said he had some but they were either low tread or uneven wear.

Holy crap!
That site is full of crap. I've seen these tires on the rocks of Moab as well as the mud of Georgia... they're cheap for a reason, but they don't perform good in ANY condition.
We seriously thought an 80 on the tires was going to tumble down a hill when he couldn't get a grip on rocks that not another single tire had issues with. The fact that an 80's heavy butt can run them at zero psi and still not pinch the sidewall is pretty scary too.
