Amazing, uber rare breed of dog bred to hunt bear. Originated in Karelia. A region that formerly encompassed Finland and western portions of Russia.

They're utilized by many states in the Northeast and out West to discourage and protect against bears, mountain lions, coyotes, etc etc.

Washington State specifically utilizes the breed.

She's an absolute crazy puppy....Very mouthy. Very loving. VERY independent.

As a fairly accomplished dog trainer, I've found my hands FULL with this young lady.

I had never heard of the breed before this, thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading up on the breed on the google. They look a lot larger than their 45-50 lbs average size.

Looks just like my old boarder collie, spotted legs and all.

nope. no bear problem....just a chance to own a cool ass breed of dog.

she's a lil monster but steadily progressing. she's allowed off leash now albeit with a Garmin collar. i can call her back in a moments notice and give her a lil zap if she doesn't heed my instruction.

lil bitch is already 30 lbs and just turned 6 months.

actually, our neighbors have a border collie. she's growing to look less and less like one everyday.

Oh man, I'm reminded of puppy poop breath and sharp puppy teeth. And said puppy not knowing how the chomp-o-meter works yet. I don't miss those days.
:D
