Medano Pass Memorial Weekend

I am in for Medano. I was thinking that camping for one night would be good. I am skeptical that we will be able to get one of the "official" camping spots shown here on a holiday weekend:

http://www.nps.gov/grsa/medano-pass-road.htm

If you don't get an actual campsite, you can't camp in the sand dunes park. It looks like the same road passes through san isabel national forest where disbursed camping is allowed, so it might be necessary to back-track to find a camp.

My vote would be to set up camp first and wheel after since it will probably be popular destination this weekend.

Looks like we're going to be out as well. With the wife 6 month's preggers and my 2 year old fighting a cold, I think we're going to stick around the springs this weekend.

For those of you going, have fun!!!

Looks like Greg, you and I,

Travis any chance you can just do a day trip?

We thought about it, but 3+ hours down, 4-5 hours driving around/lunch, 3+ hours back..... probably too much for our crew.

We have been on the fence about camping, but with the night temps in the low 40's and no toilets (my preggo wife and 65 year old dad have to pee every 5 minutes during the night ;)), we decided to just stay close to the creature comforts this weekend.

Sorry guys, I'd been looking forward to this trip for a while, but things just didn't work out this time. :crybaby:
