Thanks for sharing a great adventure!

Can't say enough about what a great long weekend this was! My kind of adventure......

A BIG thanks to those who planned and executed this trip! Dave's lead, the Bomars' hospitality and brisket, Nolen's forethought to bring freaking ice cream on a camping trip, Andy's electrical kiosk, etc., etc. etc.

Looking forward to more of these excursions in the future (but maybe not until October or so......:D)

great Job Andy , another one for the books !! Nolen and Patrick thanks for the awesome pics and vids, Bomar and JT for the entertainment, and thank everyone else for a awesome trip, every single person contributed in their own way. you all have a heck of a group and should really be proud of that fact.

Awesome write up Andy.....rubbing salt in the wound of us non participants!

any deals out there on the ENO's? what do you guys use for a bug net?

Amazon all the way. They are worth it. Spent my first (full) night in one Sat night and slept great. My daughter did as well.

We didn't have nets, but i know Eno sells them, and a thermal sleeve, which you'd probably need any colder than 50*

No water In any of my fluids. Amazing. Remarkable.

Driveshafts and ujoints were dry and were greased before the run.

Only thing is the starter (not water related) and the front Tcase seal.

Luckily mine is good, no water in anything but the floorboard.. I had a little something in the carb causing it to not idle right Saturday and Sunday but it was a quick fix. The starter has been messing up for a few weeks , I need to take care of that. luckily it's got a lifetime warranty ,

@dnp how did it get in? Find a bad seal?
No, unfortunately this one was Toyota's "fault." :bang: How lucky am I to have an '04?

Here's a TSB for an '04 LX, but you gotta figure the 750 5-speed in mine is the same as this one.........

TRANSMISSION & CLUTCH
TC001-05
Title:
FIFTH GEAR SHUDDER
Models:
'04 - '05 LX 470
January 28, 2005
Introduction

Models affected:
2004-’05 LX 470 vehicles produced before the Production Change Effective VIN: JTJHT00W#53553516

Some 2004 and 2005 model year LX 470 vehicles may exhibit a shudder (or vibration) sensation, usually accompanied by a cyclic droning noise, when lightly accelerating (less than 15% throttle) after the transmission shifts into 5th gear (usually between 35 and 45 mph). This condition may be caused by water entering the transmission breather, contaminating the transmission fluid. The transmission breather has been changed to prevent water intrusion.

The above description is exactly what started happening to mine on the way home. You can bet there's gonna be a LOT of drain/fills before I'm gonna give up and replace the tranny on this rig!!! I figure if water getting in caused the problem, water being removed might fix it.......

Ouch. I bet couple changes will clear it up. Then hunt for that updated breather...
Hope you're right. That's my thinking anyway. Ima put Rob on it when he gets back in town........I'm not gonna give up too easily on this one. Turns out, Toyota quit giving those trannys away......
