I wish I taken better “before” photos, but apparently @6545SWB has found his one true calling in sheet metal.
Tough to tell from the pics, but that lip to the shifter cut-out was bent all to hell and back with many high and low spots in the surrounding metal. Mark “listened to the metal”, made a bunch of 1/2” cuts around the bent portion of the lip, listened to the metal some more, pounded away with the hammer and tiny anvil, and welded her shut. 45 minutes all-in.
Extremely happy with the results.
