I have these two lights, I believe one was from a 1964 fj and the other one a 1968. ? Can anyone can confirm what years and the value would be? One is black, one is brown.

No clue, new ones list $30 on ebag - if you watch sometimes they have period correct ones for sale. Maybe SOR has history.

This is my unit. 40 w fully water proof LED that will do white, amber or flashing either. Very bright. Will plug into cig fighter or clamp to battery, 12' cord. Bolted to a Harbor China welding magnet.

The early brown cord inspection lamp is far more difficult to come by, the pouch even more so. Having them both certainly adds a very nice touch any early Land Cruiser. I happened to be flipping through a 1965 parts catalog when I saw this just now. It's part number 81370-60010. With pouch, $250 is a fair value in my opinion.

The black one was included on later models and is still available today, but no longer comes with the pouch shown in the photo above. There are also two hooks on those produced back in the day (one on the cord and one on the cage), whereas I believe the new ones only have one hook. With the pouch, value is about $50.

Both are manufactured by Tokai Rika, who also made dash switches for Toyota.

Very nice indeed!!!

The second image looks exactly like the light (an inspection light actually; the cord is long enough to reach the engine bay) on my 1973 FJ40. Mine has the original 53-year-old bulb, which still lights up every time I plug it in to check.

@dmaj might be able to verify this, but I think the later light (black) has slightly wider plug tangs than the earlier light (brown) plug. I think this because the later one I have caused the socket on my early ‘63 45 to crack off on one side when I tried inserting it not knowing or thinking there would be a difference. If there is a difference, I don’t have any experience with inserting the older (smaller) into a newer socket and any possible issues with that. Just a possible heads up for anyone looking to use one of these. My socket is epoxied back together and still works.

This @treerootCO pic shows the FJ40 versions of the inspection light.

Marked on the bottom of the base, PAT.NO. 459178 around the TR logo.
Early lights have a lighter brown cord than shown above.
Cord may be unmarked or marked NIHON BIND DENSEN, TOKIWA, TOKUDEN or have other marking.
Plug has TR logo, marked TOKAIRIKA CO., LTD NAGOYA JAPAN
Part # RK 55701 or 81370-60010 Lamp assembly, inspection.

3/69-7/80 - black cord, 2 movable hooks, 1 at the top, 1 on the cord, molded plug with TR logo, marked 6V-24V. Part # 81370-60010. Parts catalog shows a change in 9/71. The unit stayed the same, the bulb changed from 12v 24w to 12v 23w. Later lights have "12 volts only" tag on the cord near the plug. Blue bag has vertical lines, marked TEQ and TR, square corners.

7/80-8/84 - black cord, 1 moveable hook at the top, molded plug with TR logo, marked 6V-24V, "12 volts only" tag on cord near plug. Part # 81370-60010. Blue bag has honeycomb pattern, marked TEQ and TR, square corners.

current - black cord, 1 moveable hook at the top, reinforced molded plug, "12 volts only" tag on cord near plug. No blue bag.

There is also an FJ25 version. Like the brown cord FJ40, except the plug is not molded. Plug has two-piece cover, brass screw and nut, with brass blades. No hole in the blades. The plug has the TR logo, marked TOKAIRIKADENKI NAGOYA JAPAN. Part # FJ24 55700 Lamp assembly, inspection in 1958 FJ25 parts catalog. Bulb is 12v 24w. Have seen only 2 examples of this one, neither with the blue bag.
