I'm chasing down an exhaust leak. The manifold plate between the two gaskets is cracked.

I've seen three different options for plate configuration. Any advice as to which one works the best?

They range from OEM to a solid sheet of stainless to a peripheral rim of material.

Does it matter which one?

Is that some sort of block-off plate between the intake and exhaust? I always mill off the bottom of the aluminum intake to make room for a 1/4" thick piece of steel plate with gaskets on both sides and bolt the block-off to the exhaust manifold. I like having the intake and exhaust as two separate pieces.

It's the plate that purported to be important for preventing cracks in the intake manifold from excessive heat from exhaust manifold.

There are several replacement options. Just not really sure which I 'need'. One that just covers the edges or a full plate? Seems like if this one cracked, a thin piece of ss would warp and bend over time and crack as well. Just have literally have no experience with this.

Thanks for your reply.
