Does anyone know what the conditions are like up the hill? There was snow a few weeks ago, but it has been unseasonably warm up here, so some of it may be melted. What about that Canyon trail over there, (forgetting the name), that was short and looked a bit tough? I'm in for a one day trip somewhere if something cool is open. I finally have some time off and gas is cheap!

I think he's talking about Bronco Canyon!
BUUUUURRRRRRLLLLLLY!
Id think that'd best be done with a few rigs.

K

Oh, gotcha. No joke, that place is pretty gnarly. I have seen pictures here lately of it and it has gotten bad. I went on a run with the Sierra Stompers in 2001 and you could get by with 33's and a rear locker with ease. Looks like it is a little tougher nowadays. I would try it in mine, don't know how the outcome would be??!!?? Hell, let's go right now. I'll meet yall at the Bucket of Blood in a hour and 1/2!!:steer:

Got your message Keith, I'll hit you back in the morning.

Where is Bronco Canyon (that was the one I was thinking of)?

Dylan
It's in the Virginia Range just east of my (and Keiths) house. Maybe 10 miles as the crow flys.

Here is a track Alvaro did

Bronco canyon is the section around Long valley Creek on the map.

Ooh that is a nice map. Reading up on Bronco canyon, it seems like it is pretty tough. I'll check with Caltrans and the rangers on Monday and find out which gates are open and what is closed.

Dylan

Looks as if there MIGHT be a storm coming in over the weekend!
The weather people are NEVER wrong.

Well figure something out.

K

Ya weather pending I am still in. I tried calling a few ranger stations but they had no clue whether hwy 4 was open up at Hermit Valley. I'll check with pg+e or caltrans tomorrow.

Dylan

Me too!
I guess theres been a change to the forecast...NO storm this weekend, but a little rain showers Tues- Wed. AM.
There were a couple of the Norcal Wagon guyz going up some time soon...

We might be okay.

K

UUUUH, Im thinking we just got SNOWED OUT for the Deer Valley run today.
Its pouring in Reno and the mountains have been shrouded in clouds...

K

Yeup...
Chains or snows over HWY 4.:crybaby:
I was hoping this was gonna blow over, at least for ONE MORE weekend!

K

Hwy 88 didn't get much on the east side of the Carson Pass, (deer valley side). If we could get through the road restriction on the highway four side, then I think we still might be able to get away with it. I left messages at the rangers stations since they are not there today, so hopefully I will here back from them or try them again tomorrow.

Im still down!
If nothing else, we can do Barney Riley, and catch some lunch at the Cutthroat...
Its supposed to dry out for the next couple of days.

K

NO controls on HWY4 as of this AM!:bounce::bounce2::steer:
When do you guyz wanna meet?
Woodfords, 8 or 9?

Its gonna be wet, so I wont bother cleaning the rig!
