Just the materials to build the resonator out of 304SS are probably $75 a pop. A shop with "real" equipment (not me DIY-ing it with homeowner grade tools) who knew what they are doing could probably build and install one in 1-2 hours. So $200-300 seems to be a decent figure. But, you may have to do some searching to find a shop that 1) understands what a Helmholtz is - you may need to prescribe to them exactly what to build instead of relying on them to figure it out and 2) readily welds 304SS at a low price.

Also - I've read elsewhere of only nominal power gains for an exhaust on a GX that does not already have headers on it. The gains on mine were substantial....but I have LT headers to the OEM exhaust was a major bottleneck. If you have stock manifolds, the exhaust is downstream of the bottleneck, so I'm not sure you'd get the same power gains and power-to-price benefit.
What long tube headers are you using?

Doug Thorleys
Just realized you are rolling in a GX 470.

I read a well documented article about the power gains from the 470 with the headers and true crossover exhaust. Impressive gains, I don't recall the HP gains but it was significant. They had dynameter numbers to back it up.

I haven't dyno'd mine but the difference (both times) was huge. The GX feels legitimately powerful, even with stock gearing. I was able to safely execute a pass on a 2-lane road pulling our camper a few weeks ago - that was never going to happen with just the headers, and I can't imagine towing with a totally stock 470. Can't wait to tune it and unlock even more power.

Someone really needs to make a set of headers for the 1UR. The manifolds look almost as restrictive as the 2UZ versions.

Yeah, I figured that out too when I went to the Thorleys website and they only had GX470 headers. Kinda let the air out of my balloons....
Why not make headers for the 460's? They have been out far longer than 470's.
I know, it's just a rhetorical question... :(

The 470 had the cracking exhaust manifold issue so guessing unless we have a problem we wont ever get any.

Headers are made for 3UR-powered Tundras, with multiple manufacturers (DT, Hooker, JBA, and others). The GX is a smaller market, but not that much smaller with a 14-year production run so far. Would just take someone to do the R&D to figure out how to fit them and then make the tooling to build them.

For the GX470, Doug Thorley makes the headers on a very limited basis. They are often out of stock and they don't bother keeping up with demand.

Guessing the older the GX470 gets the less they will produce.

They still make headers for a lot of Toyota applications going back to the 80s. Like everyone else, they are short on staff and can't keep up with demand. I was really lucky to get mine after 4 months. Pretty much all of their Toyota application headers/midpipes are out-of-stock right now. In fact their website shows most domestic stuff out-of-stock as well.

So another update. The drone that existed around 1800-2100 stayed the same until......I lifted it. Just threw on a 2.5" Ironman FCP kit over the weekend + bigger tires, and now I have ZERO drone. Like 100% gone. I don't know if it was the reflection of the sound a few inches lower bouncing back into the truck or what, but I kid you not I now have no drone. 🥳

Very interesting - I am lifted as well and still had the drone, despite having the exhaust exit straight out the back (no turndown). Hearing this, it seems that it would have been easier for me to go with the Overland system for a 470 rather than hacking up a Borla with resonators to get rid of the drone!
