Steve, hopefully same size with this :

HKS didnt list the measurements of their cooler, ours looks about the same size. It's hard to tell, ours has the inlet and outlet on the same side, similar to safari. Our cooler measures 3"x20"x12.5", the box only, not including the in/out pipes.

Oh yeah, ours mounts in front of the radiator where it belongs, not down low for the elements to damage it. I think you have a very unique truck LX, but most people here are off-roading, not doing lowered street trucks. I know the one pictured isnt yours, but similar right? Down behind the bumper has more room for an intercooler, but only if you have a wacky bumper like that!

I will be monitoring this thread. Let's just say I am a "person of interest".

Hopefully, the turbo will be a reality and not some BS thread.

Glad to hear someone is taking up the initiative to do this. Keep us posted.

Hey Steve, wonder if we Canucks could adapt your intercooler to our TB diesel engines?

And the next question...... could the intercooler be purchased seperate?

Might take a little extra work to put it in, but yes it will be available seperate. We will be offering it seperate for our lovely freinds with Safari turbos. The in/out pipes will be in the same location as the original Safari kit. Ya see Reffug, I'm looking out for you.

P.S. Rob, give me a call, I wanted to talk to you about that fax today.

This sounds fun, tell me a little bit about you, and I'll tell you a little about my turbo.... ;)

I also have a new add-on kit for TRD superchargers if anyone has one. I just got a dyno sheet back 10 minutes ago.......67.2 HP gain and a 86.4 torque gain.
Wahooooo.

"WHEEL HP"!!!!!
93 FZJ80
Top HP with TRD, 137.1
Top HP with TRD/new secret kit, 204.3
Top Torque, TRD, 200.4
Top Torque, TRD/New kit, 286.8

Let me guess, a stiegemeier port job and a 6 pound pulley?

Lol, not quite. I am aware of the power gains from pulley changes, but not a firm believer of it. The kit will basically be a piggyback FMU unit for the computer and a different fuel pump. It is a little more involved than this of course, but this pretty much sums it up.

Steve.

Thread hi jack! Oh well I will bite! What is the new secret kit? for the TRD? don't say it wouldn't be a new secret kit then, caus i'd have to slap ya. My guess is a rising rate FP regulator and upgraded fuel pump and for an extra 400 water injection. Maybe even a slightly smaller pulley from Pulleyboys.com in Washington. well how close am I ?....

Those are horrible numbers for the stock TRD, even if they are at the wheels.

Would it be possible to post the dyno sheet showing the power and torque curves?

Shane

I will scan it if I have time today, this is getting way hijacked. Anyone want to start a new thread for the TRD kit? I know the numbers are horrible, but thats the truth. I was just kidding about the secret kit thing, we should have it ready for sale hopfully next week or the week after. Basically the 93-94 computer can only reach a certain fuel limit and then stop delivering more fuel, this is very noticable in the dyno chart. So what we did was add a higher volumn fuel pump, with a higher pressure rate, and design a piggy-back chip for the computer to adjust for it. This whole process took about 3-4 months to perfectly calibrate everything. This is also the problem with 93-94 vehicles wanting a turbo. We will have the 95-97 turbo kit first, then design another turbo for 93-94, utilizing the new fuel approach. In the past people would actually add a 7th injector to a turbo kit to get the extra fuel, and a trigger switch to spray it when you floored the gas (not the best approach). With the pulley thing, people can change it if they like, but I have yet to see proo fof significant power gains.

Thank you Steve.

I'm sure I'm just dreaming, but any chance the turbo kit would be CARB approved?

Shane

Please help those of us in Kalifornia!!!! :flipoff2:

Of course smog legal in CA! Where do you think Man-A-Fre is? We cant design a kit and not be able to use it, that would suck! Oh yeah heres the chart for our TRD buddies. Hope you can see it!

Damn right it would suck, but I hear so many horror stories of trying to get aftermarket parts a CARB number. Now you have me interested.........and yes I do know where Man-A-Fre is located :flipoff2:

The dyno chart is very interesting. Do you know how much boost was being produced and did it keep climbing until the run was stopped? Also, do you have any other information like inlet temp, boost curve and condition of the Cruiser?
