Sorry we couldn't do it bro...I'm not headed down to DE till this Thursday now...but safe travels, have fun, and report back often!

Hey Jeremy good to here from you! Hope the 80's running good .
Now find some trails and post up some action shots of that trailer!

Later, Steve

I'm on it Steve, headed to the carolina's then to N. Ga for some mud on the trailer. Then maybe some desert sand beginning of the month and top it off with a cool down weekend in Moab.

Pat,

Sorry it never worked out. I never made it to NYC, too busy building Shower Mats to head up.

Jeremy

Just saw some pics of Jeremy's trailer in all it's glory at the Overland Expo. Looks great!
Check it out on Expedition Portal, lots of great rigs at the Expo, a must see in my book.

Steve

Thanks, Steve.

Well the trailer has made it over 5000 miles so far. Now with its sexy new Eezi-Awn 1600 T-top, sleepin in style. There has been a change in plans it looks like. No heading back to MPLS for the Midwest Mtn Expo due to cost of booth space... Instead I'll be wallowing in my misery at Easter Jeep Safari and Cruise Moab! Lets tack on another 1000 miles of driving to this shake down run, :D

Coming along nicely.

Do you have a closeup of the trailer hitch assembly, specifically where the tube meets the A frame?

Jeremy, After drooling over your trailer and watching your build I GOT LUCKY!:bounce:
I thought how cool it would be to be able to build a trailer like yours.
Well I found a deal I just couldn’t pass up.
My new trailer project! [Short Hijack ON]
It’s made from an old early 1951 model GMC Pick up frame and bed.
Tail gate picture!

Seems my Aunts farm still had this old trailer I last used back in 1966 still behind the barn. She passed away about 4 years ago. I remember at 16 years old loading it down with bales of hay to throw out to the my cows I had mixed in with hers. The Family was cleaning off the property to put it up for sale and said I have it cheap.
I went after it last weekend and brought it home. Sure thought the wife was going to hit the ceiling over the thought of having another trailer. I already have 5 trailers, so this will make 6 trailers now! She said, “Oh what a cute trailer!” Yea for me!
I brought it home on my Dune Buggy trailer!

The trailer bed measures inside at 50.5” wide X 78” long X 14” tall to the fold over. The fenders are long gone so that meams I can build my own and have fuel/ water racks next to them.

It has some surface rust, but everything on it is solid, including the stake bed pockets, and it still has the original wood floor under the steel plate in the bed.
They built them to last in 1951. Which BTY is the same year I was born!.:D Yea, I know I'm older than I look!!!!
THe best part is it's long enough I can carry my motorcycle in the bed with the tail gate down if I wish.
I will be studying you build with a new fervor!

Looks like the trailer worked out great! My trailer build has finally just started... so I'm super jealous of the pictures.

How are the custom shackles working out? It looks like you would have some serious rubage if it were to bottom out. I basically copied your fenders, and have the same size 4R wheels, now that the fender frames are done I'm starting to second guess the fit.

Valid Username,

Thanks for the kind words.

Custom Shackles have been great. The wheels definitely rub the fenders, so I'll be adding lift blocks to the front spring perch, which will give me a better shackle angle anyways. My shocks are too long for this setup as it is. My recommendation is to go ahead and do a spring over! Saves lots of time and trouble, plus buy your shocks based off of full extended length and full compressed length. Don't just buy a shock for an early CJ cuz that's what the springs are... ask me how I know?

I just installed a 4x4Labs bumper, :bounce:, so I need more height to get the trailer to sit level when hitched up, since I sleep on the trailer while hitched a lot of times.

Have fun! give me a shout some time and swing by. I'm leaving MPLS in a week for another couple events, so do it soon or hold out a while.

Did you get any flack for a surfboard in the desert.....?

just sayin.....:steer:

Thanks for the pix pal, looked like a blast! Must have been nice to stop by AT...did you leave broke? ;)

Pat

Welcome back! Looks like you had a great time and the trailer performed well. I'd like to see the new bumper so let me know what the schedule holds.

Later, Steve
