I cut a hole in the top of the stock plastic/carpet for my fire extinguisher.

That's great!

If I'm not mistaken, didn't you get a metal shelf?
If so, this makes for a very good location for a fire extinguisher (with a quick release) or for a second smaller one. For me, it's easier to access in an emergency than opening up the back.
But that is a great idea you have to put an extinguisher in that dead space back there!

Lol nice catch @Acrad!
That price tag is wild. For all that money and it doesent even cover the side wing areas. I’m working on my own version of the 3rd row platform. Planning on relocating the wiring a little so I can get the plate closer to the floor. Also some sound mat going down first.
I tried bending up some ABS plastic for some of the exposed ugly, it was okay. Going to try some Kydex next.

@Hiluxforever i bought this platform. i would not recommend it.

issues i've had with this platform.
* wrong hardware
* replaced wrong hardware with more wrong hardware (so they must not know what hardware is required on the gx 460)
* had to drill out a hole in one of the rails that mounts to the body due to misalignment
* had to drill out access holes in the rails (the hole was designed for hardware that was not provided)
* impossible to get all the screws lined up to the rails (eventually i gave up)
* no documentation of any kind

the only other alternative to goose gear i know of is air down gear up. you will need to talk to their customer service. i was going to order that but the american adventure lab system was a bit cheaper with a military discount.

Oof, that's a big bummer.

Nice to see more options.

The Goose Gear base plate has worked well enough for me, although it was probably a lot more $$ than it was worth (look at how much they get for ONE of their drawers, might make you feel better), the only other optiont was DIY at the time. I have installed tie down points, and found a few things I can store under the side panels - stuff like a spare tie rod, tie rod end, u-joint, and a brush saw.

This looks ok to me, but it also appears like it would make a lot of noise bumping down the road wouldn't it??
Are you referring to the base flexing and bouncing or gear strapped to it?
The base looks like it has some structural cross members below it to keep it from flexing, but that's just an assumption not knowing the construction.
Yeah, plywood is sound dampening, but heavy and bulky. Adding an indoor/outdoor carpet pad would solve any noise issues.

Might be worth sticking some dynamat-type sound leading to the back before install.

I highly recommend popping the rear panels for some sound deadening when installing a seat delete.

Hey Folks, I can provide additional context on the MASS Platform. The product photos at the beginning of the thread are of my truck.

American Adventure Labs (AAL) makes some incredible things for the Jeep and Bronco community, and is looking to support Toyota. They used my vehicle to refine the GX460 MASS Platform prototype in October 2022. I have been using it and their drawer system since then.

I've had a very positive experience with the baseplate and the drawers. The tolerances are tight so it does take some finesse to line everything up, but my system hasn't required any modification or additional hardware. The plate and drawers are rock solid, no rattles. My favorite thing about AAL products is in the modularity. All their baseplates, drawers, and fridge slides share a common mounting pattern like lego blocks. Components bolt on / off each other in minutes, no drilling or nutserts to add or move components. The baseplate also accepts cargo tie down points at any of the wishbone shaped mating holes that can be added or removed without any tools. And everything is aluminum: lightweight and no moisture concerns with rust or warpage.

Though the product is live on their site, AAL is very interested in collecting feedback from the Toyota community to continue refining it and make the best offering possible. AAL makes everything in house in St. George, Utah. This gives them the ability to iterate quickly and owner Brit Mansell is a veteran with obsessive attention to detail.

To that end, I'm going to start a thread specifically for collecting feedback / suggestions / requests around the baseplate and drawer system.

Looking forward to hearing more about it.

To keep me from going down the custom route I probably would have wanted some more basic for about $300. As it is, I keep going back to doing a lower rear plastic delete as I eye the Aluminum Brite Tread.
