For some reason I am not able to modify the original post anymore.

I can't say just yet, but we are making some great progress here.

Has anyone reached out to budbuilt? Maybe he just needs the right motivation to take on LX sliders. I'd be fine with either of them.

It has been shared in the past that he built a prototype but it didn't meet his strength expectations. Perhaps @Taco2Cruiser has more recent info.

I am also in, already cut the running boards off and then found out the Slee wait list has no end...

I hope someone is forwarding this to Trail Tailor and the other suppliers?

Last year I called Slee, MetalTech, white knuckle, trail tailor. We started a similar group buy thread.

Where it broke down:
White knuckle - thought we could reuse the rails only and build custom brackets. Didn’t get too far.
Slee - has a product but not production
MetalTech- thought they could adapt and produce a product . Still a live lead with potential fittings later in the year. In other words, after the season.
Trail tailor- supportive, but we weren’t able to get a rig to Redding for fit up as a model. Several volunteers no trucks. Not sure if Jason is doing much fab at the moment @TRAIL TAILOR ?
Local - A local fab wanted materials plus 12 shop hours.

I've got a local shop that I've used exclusively that may have interest in picking it up. Will know when he gets back from AUS on the 17th

I’m also tired of waiting for the Slee sliders, so count me in (2016). I am a custom fabricator for medical devices and unlike Slee, I can’t think of anything that could delay production for years. If my company couldn’t do it we would sub out the work, or expand production facilities. I mean, can you imagine being a business that has so many people waiting with their hands out with money and not finding a way to make it happen? It’s frankly ridiculous, and I’d love to buy sliders elsewhere.

A creator is often not interested in scale production or monetizing an idea. It just isn’t the business they are in. I haven’t been to Slee’s shop, but I get the feeling builds are more important, and these production items are to enable builds, not to be a separate line of business. Shipping, scale customer service, supporting mail order activity detracts from the business they want to be in.
Consider that even 50 sets of sliders is only $25k profit, which might be the profit in five or six builds. And building is what you do, and enjoy, it is your core competency.

While I don't disagree with what you're saying, the example being used outsources manufacturing to another shop(s) from what I have been told. It seems like it would be something to appease the masses and get their name out there quickly and easily, regardless of the dollars made. They may only make a hundred dollar bill per set after they pay their contractor, but having their name on another 50 something trucks would be worth it in my mind. Even if they did 50 builds a year, they'd double the number of trucks that advertise for them...but what do I know? I'm just a dude in line with a number and money in hand, like all of the other folks on the list.

After talking to fabs last year, about 50% sometimes more of folks on the list evaporate when credit card numbers are due.

How do the other vehicles get sliders and we are on a never ending wait list? (Rhetorical question...) Would the solution be to have people on the WL place a deposit and get an expected delivery date? I'd throw down a deposit for the material cost if I knew a ballpark of when I could expect them at my house...

I would urge you to search Pelfreybilt on google and see what you get re: taking money before product is built.

Here are a couple of photo's of the latest design on my truck. The protection for the AHC parts will be available as a separate purchase since these sliders will also fit the 200.

As for the assumption that builds in the shop are more important, not really. We have more resources devoted to designing, producing and shipping products than what we have on build in the shop. Yes having the product enables us to build in the shop, but shipping them if a large part of the business.

These are the ones that were on at LCDC?
I like those a lot and would really like to wait...and I think I’m part of the majority that want them but also want to know when.

I'm sure you get these offers all the time but if you need another test vehicle to make sure it fits "production variances" I am local and can leave my 2009 LX with you easily for a week and longer if you really need it.

This is of course me trying to help the greater good and facilitate the offering of this product :)
