Toyota/Lexus/Scion Pressroom: Lexus Announces Pricing for All-New 2008 LX 570 Luxury Utility Vehicle

12/20/2007 Torrance, CA
December 20, 2007 - Torrance, CA - Lexus today announced the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the all-new 2008 LX 570 luxury utility vehicle. The third-generation LX offers significantly increased performance and new safety features over the LX 470 model it replaces with a number of technological advancements and a new high-strength chassis.

The 2008 LX 570, with several new technology features, enhanced safety, performance and comfort, will carry a base MSRP of $73,800.

The LX 570 features a new 383-horsepower, 5.7-liter V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission built to handle demanding tasks with smoothness and refinement. The powertrain advancements make the 2008 LX 570 engaging to drive while providing an increased towing capacity of 8,500 pounds. An electro-hydraulic system with four-wheel Active Height Control (AHC) and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) reacts more quickly and allows for a greater range of adjustment than the system it replaces.
With several first-in-class features, the LX 570 offers perhaps the most compelling combination of luxury, safety, on-road smoothness and off-road performance of any vehicle in its segment. The new Crawl Control regulates throttle and braking, allowing the driver to focus more on steering over particularly rough ground. In addition, LX 570 is the first Lexus to offer a new Wide-view Front & Side Monitor feature designed for use in certain urban settings such as parking garages. For enhanced occupant safety, the new LX 570 is equipped with a segment-leading 10 standard airbags and a segment-first Active Front Headrests. The optional Pre-Collision System with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is also a segment first.

The LX 570's standard luxury features include a four-zone climate control system, a first-in-class power sliding second-row seat, and a power-folding third-row seat. Options include a 19-speaker Mark Levinson® Reference Surround Sound audio system, Intuitive Park Assist, climate control front seats with heated second-row seats, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $765.

I went with the second package and it came to $80,600. Hmmm, $6K more than the LC...I might go the LX way over the LC.. Looks to be the better value. Granted, the first few months will not be sold under MSRP most likely.. Still, once the newness has worn off deals can be made.

I would still choose the LC. The LX is sweet however they will be like Honda Accords around here, they will be everywhere. Same thing happened with the new RR and RRS. The 100 series LC/LX has exploded around here lately, it's like these folks finally realised they existed and had to have one. A year ago I saw more new RRs, now I see more 06/07 100 series twins.

Either 200 is going to be a great truck. It is hard to imagine 6.5 seconds to 60 in a truck this capable. Just 6 years to wait, the count down has begun.

I am like a kid on a candy store , can't decide.
Of course I would want the most expensive candy. Yes, the LX570 is the most delicious , then follows the LC and last perhaps is the more practical Sequoia.
Now that daddy is not around to buy candy, is my turn to pay for my sweets. That is why practical is more affordable.

I drove a new Sequoia the other day. It's really pretty nice. I built one and it came to be $16,000 less than a decked out LC. For the real world the Seq is plenty capable, but there will no doubt be nay sayers who will discount the Seq for its IRS and size so, in the end each individual will have to decide which rig fits their needs the best.
I'm just not sure the LC is $16K better than the Seq, all thing being equal.

Thank you.
I am looking forward for a test drive, so far none of my local dealer have any.
Actually I have been waiting a long time to purchase a new SUV and I was aiming toward the new LX570, but the price tag is way to deep for me.

im not a fan of the chrome strip on the doors, and the chrome door handles on the lx, but other then that i think the lx is a bit nicer then the lc. i feel the chrome makes it look like a escalade, or navigator. i really like the look of the range rover, no chrome. im hoping that you can remove the chrome strip from the doors, and either remove the chrome from the door handles, or replace the door handles with lc ones.

I see from your past history of LC's you must have the 100K mark as the get rid time or are you just getting the itch to trade. I have always used the 100K mark as the scary time. Is this a time the LC gets expensive?? I got rid of an early LX around 90 and my wife threatened our marriage if I ever got another so am looking at the 200LC. The old LX suspension kept dropping when it was parked and nobody could ever figure out why.

I understand.
The cost of fixing the LX could be prohibited.
I have been looking into the new Sequoia instead of the new LC/LX suv's , which I feel would be a bit cheaper to fix in the long run.

While out for a walk today in So. CA, I noticed one house in the tract with a new LX570 parked on the driveway (lots of brake dust on the 20" wheels). No one was outside, so I don't know what options it has nor the price.

A couple days ago I test drove the new Sequoia I was overwhelm by the huge size.
Is way too big for me, I need to retest drive the 2008 TLC and for sure the LX570.
The candy store is full of very very sweet goodies. Can't decide.

My father is next on the list at ourlocal dealership for a LX570. He was called today and was told the price is $81,400. That is full loaded.

He asked about not fully loaded, just for giggles, and they said that they are only getting fully stocked LX570's.

So it is $10k more then the fully stocked LC.

Those cameras in the front and sides almost make it worth it for me :grinpimp:

Absolutely absured pricing..just %$##$% absurd. Say what you want but that is $25,00 MORE than my wifes loaded Escalade...that and the $75,000 LC I test drove yesterday is officially off my wish list....
but more power to your Dad for getting it ;-)

IMHO the Escalade's are pieces of crap, We have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL (which I think is better quality then the Escalade) and it is a not even close to the build quality on the LC.

Is it worth the extra $25k is another story, but when it comes to build quality the LC and Lexus is way above any American built SUV.

IMHO

As I have said many times by now, but I will say it again..."$73,000 + is too much money for a Toyota, any Toyota !!" Yes, the LC /LX are built to a higher standard than the uplevel GM utes. Well, for what Toyota is asking for them, they sure as hell better be !! Here is the dark horse consideration to all of us who are skeptical about spending that kind of money on the new 200....The Sequoia is a VERY tempting alternative to the LC, IMO. For those who are living in the REAL world and spend 99.9% of the time driving on paved roads the Sequoia has the Toyota build quality and most probably plenty enough off-road capability we could really ever need , and is priced very REASONABLY !! For those who "don't want to see what I drive at every corner"...Get over it, all of these SUV's are mass produced autos !! I think Toyota has cut off its nose, despite its face with the 2008 LC buy doing such a good job with the new Sequoia. Sorry Dtt, in my opinion spending that kind of money on a Toyota is absurd when the Sequoia is most probably 95% as capable as a LC and considerably less expensive..But, sometimes these decisions are not based on "practical" considerations, but on "emotional" ones and "intangibles". Land Cruisers are excellent vehicles and there is a certain something that makes owning one (or more !!) very special !!! So, I'm not going to diss someone for buying one just because I think there is a more practical or better choice, even though I have been shamelessly chastised by some (on this very forum) for buying and owning certain makes. So, if you MUST have a new LC/LX, I am sure the new 200 is a great truck. If you feel that the new LC/LX's are too pricey, take a look at the '08 Sequoia. I will quote what ARB said to me about the new Sequoia : "They should have named the new Sequoia the Land Cruiser XL ."Yes, Marc Bowers from ARB USA said that in a return e-mail that I sent to them inquiring about bull bars for the '08 Sequoia ! It's nice to have choices, now isn't it !!

Twist....

WHAT THE HELL!!! just kidding...

No worries. The fact is at the time there was no new LX or Sequoia (which is too big, MUCH too big, for my needs.) So at the time, it was the perfect truck for me.

Now about the price. Well I own my own company, so technically the company is paying for it. So I had a budget and I used that budget. That simple.

Do I think it is too much for a Toyota....probably yeah, but I wanted a LC, and I got my LC. That simple. I was planning on spending around $65-70 for a new vehicle, PLUS I had no reference point as to what the old pricing in the past was, so I have no regrets at all.

No worries ! If it fits your needs and wants I am sure it's a great choice. Everyones criteria is quite unique, I'm sure of that.

Oh, before someone reads way too much into my statement above...Do I think that the Sequoia is a substitute for the LC ? Absolutely not. I only feel that the Seq is a good alternative to a LC.

twstchaser:
I understand many feel the Sequoia is a qulaity substitute, and considering the market I feel this is an accurrate statement. As for the price, I still feel this is more a reflection of toyota hedging thier bets against the US currecny. This price does seem inflated until you look at the dollar and it's trend, all imports are increasing in price! The longer you wait the more you will pay!
Happy new year and good luck with your next purchase.
