And if you're really worried about having to use rebased HID bulbs w/ the halogen projectors, you can always have HID projectors retrofitted by illusion lighting in LA for over $1K.

Alright, call me silly.

I know they don't have 'em in the H1 form factor now, but does anyone have any idea if/when Sylvania will have H1 Ultra's? and any word about how reliable they are?

-LX Pilot

There are far better choices.

Narva from Daniel Stern for $13.50 each

Hella +15 from Rallylights.com for $12.

Both will pick you up about 200 lumens over stock and put you in the 1750 range.

Guys, I purchased a couple of Philips HIR2 9012 to upgrade my Low Beams based on the discussion in the forums.

I went to install them using the discussion in this thread, but the new bulb doesn't match the one I pulled out? Have I yanked the wrong bulb from the truck, or am I missing something?

Edit: New bulb on left, old bulb on right.

HIR bulbs can only be modified to fit 9006 and 9005 sockets. The low beam bulb on a LX is a H1 bulb. The one you have could be used for a high beam but thats it.

Well crap, I must of misunderstood the thread I was reading and got a Toyota style bulb.

Soo...these 9012 bulbs can replace my 2000 LX470 High beams? If so, would they be considered an upgrade?
Is there a cheap low beam upgrade bulb for my Truck that is reliable/recommended?

Yeah I could search, but I've already wasted 40 bucks misreading the results:)

E would work in the high beams and would be a improvement over your old bulbs. There is a cheap alternative for the low beams. $5 at your local Autozone for some H1 bulbs. I wouldn't out them in my revers lights, but to each his own.

I went with the Sylvania zXe which I believe are a newer addition to their product line. I've been very happy with them thus far.

I had to replace my low beam yesterday again.
A few weeks ago I replaced them with Narva 50 Plus.
Last week the driverside (Ozzie car, so your passanger side) stopped working.
As I have an aux battery installed, it was the same procedure as the other side. So I took out the 100Ah AGM battery. Man what are they heavy. After a search this morning I saw that they weigh around 32 kg! I hurt my back/hip when putting the battery back in the car. Ouch.

Anyway, what I found was that the H1 globe wasn't held in position tightly by the spring. Does this has an impact on the globe? My understanding is that the round-ish plate is the ground so if that doesn't make good enough contact the light will not work.
Is that correct?
Is it just a matter of bending the spring in a better shape?
I didn't do it yesterday as I was in a hurry.

I must have been born last night;) I can not get the gray plastic cap off when in the unlocked position.

Hello, I have a 2005 LX470 recently purchased and ordered the Sylvania H1 bulbs pictured below that have one prong. However, when I removed the existing bulb it has two prongs (pic below). I am also attaching a pic of the headlight itself. Not sure if it is factory or if the previous owner replaced it with aftermarket headlight due to which the light bulb has two prongs ???? I also noticed that existing bulb says H7 instead of H1. Why would this have H7 when everyone else has H1? Thanks for your help.

I think previous owner may have replaced the headlights. I tried the H7 bulbs and they fit just fine. However, I am not impressed at all with the silverstar nor the Silverstar Ultra. Perhaps it is the after market headlight assembly negatively impacting the performs of the bulbs but I am not impressed.
