I have a 2001 lx470 the vehicle is new to me. When I got the vehicle sometimes the AHC would shut off while driving. The truck has about 180k miles on it, so I replaced the pump and accumulators on it shortly after I bought the truck. The suspension worked amazingly, for about 2 days and then it sat for a week. When I drove it next I set it to low and now its been stuck in low for months. I also replaced all 3 height sensors during that time thinking it was the problem(It was not). Every time I turn the truck on the AHC only works for about 30 sec and the pump will turn on before it starts to flash OFF. When the pump is running it makes no attempt to pick the truck up. Even when I jacked up the front and back end when I started it, it did nothing to help. So a few days ago I got the techstream software and it said the rear pressure sensor had 3.2-3.3 at peak pressure and the front had 0 when trying to go up to neutral. If anyone has experience or could help me out I would be extreamly greatful.

Replace the fluid while you are at it, easy to do.
Are all doors closed?
Is the car standard or added gear?

Sounds like the pump is not developing pressure. You may need to test it (somehow) to see if it can create the required pressure, or just replace it with a take-off sold here on Mud.

AHC woes! Been there, so i understand the frustration.

When i bought my landcruiser 100, I drove for the first about 5 years without any AHC glitch. I was that lucky. But i knew nothing about AHC other than enjoying the comfort and raising and lowering the car ... and regularly changing AHC fluid.

Then the damping became bad, so i decided to do something. But i was deeply in fear after hearing horror stories about AHC.

I consulted and one day I saw a landcruiser exactly like mine, including the color. I approached the friendly owner who told me of a mechanic who manages his AHC. It was such a reflief, especially since he was an experienced ex-Toyota technician. Strangely, though, I had communication problems with him as he could barely express himself and understand English - our language of instruction here.

Long story short. That mechanic became the biggest disaster ever. He squandered thousands and thousands of dollars of my money because of total incompetence. He knew nothing other than replacing the AHC pump, and everytime there was an AHC issue, he would tell me to buy a new pump. I learnt that there is absolutely no mechanic, not even one, here in my country who knows how to manage AHC. So many mechanics claim to know, but when u approach them with a problem, they will most likely tell u to buy a new pump. Here, a used pump costs about USD 700.

So i learnt my hard lessons and decided that i must take ithe bull by the horn. This forum and AI have been extremely helpful.

I do not have techstream, so i do manual diagnostics using under-hood diagnostic connector. I only borrow techstream to measure neutral pressures.

I cannot be easily fleeced by a mechanic these days for the last three years. Some problems are as simple as replacing AHC FUSE at about USD 3, or adjusting sensor linkages, or cleaning sensors for free. I easily dismantle the AHC pump and clean it. Many times it has solved my problem for free. But u can easily spend USD 3000 if u call a mechanic who tells u to replace pump, accumulators, struts, etc. I have since graduated from that.

The other thing is that it requires a lot of patience to troubleshoot. U need an extra car that u can use as u troubleshoot. AHC is so comfortable that i don't ever want to replace it with conventional shocks.
