Love the 3UR, they just have the habit of wetting the bed with radiator and valley plate coolant, timing cover oil, and occasionally a mix of the two through those pesky head gaskets

I think the main difference is one leaves you on the side of the road without warning.

2024 Tundra.

Those head bolts are torqued to about 800 Jesus/LBs.

Now I get to find out why my Cruiser battery is dead. It never ends.

The UR series is an excellent V8, last of the old school with the 3UR. Would have been nice if Toyota saw fit to run the final 3UR years with direct injection and a bump in power, say 420hp.

I think pretty much every time I have gone into my local Toyota parts dept in the last few years, I have seen at least one V35A short block in a crate on a pallet next to the delivery door waiting to go into some Tundra, Sequoia, etc...

Good news is my short block is here. Bad news is THEY ORDERED A BARE ****ING BLOCK. Awesome. Doing my best to not lose my damn mind at a few people over it.

Maybe it's time for another career choice.

We are hiring a full time Land Cruiser mechanic! Ironically, my current master left Toyota because of the V35A recall. Hated every minute of it.

And shame on the parts "professional" who ordered a bare block.
