AWESOME CAGE!! GREAT that it doubles as a jungle gym for the kids too.. that way u can have cruiser time AND family time all in 1 ..

:wrench:you did the right thing by tearing in.. just think of the years u are adding to the life of your rig!! KEEP IT UP!

Thats a great idea with the heater under the seat....once you get 'er all hooked up you can take those pink boots off.:D

Great build cant wait to see it all finished.

Thanks!
I swear the kids knew what was up, The second I get the seats in they have all sorts of food and drinks and are piling into the cruiser, I was still bolting up the harness.

All the mechanical stuff is coming along nicely, What I have coming up sounds a little daunting... Wiring harness :hhmm:

Thanks all, Its actually been a lot of fun working on it again

I finally got all the pulleys pumps and what not figured out, I will get a pic up later tonight(at work now) What I went from was a long to short water pump, got rid of the clutch fan for a Taurus fan, That will be worked on later today and I needed to figure out how everything was going to bolt up and tighten.
So...
Tonight Taurus install along with a new "radiator barn" radiator, New hoses, Fluids and Bib.
Perhaps more pic's
Have a great Thurs. everyone!

Just a few pic's of what I finished tonight...

I installed the Taurus fan, New radiator,l Hood and bib.
The radiator mount wasnt as easy as you would think, I had to move it forward an inch so the Taurus fan wouldnt interfere with the water pump, Its still close, I have a bit more adjusting to do, I was able to drill and use a tap and die set for the Taurus fan, All I did was bolt it on similar to the radiator.
Now just fillerup!

That is going to be one sick rig, man! Thumbs WAY up!!

Great to see your progress, Brian. Can't wait to have another resurrected 40 around!

Please show your painting steps and methods, very interested. Thanks, looks great!!

Howdy.
Welp...
I took an auto body class near my house to get all the details needed to get this job started, They had a nice parts list and at the first class the instructor went to each persons vehicle and thought about what we needed and we would mark it down and purchase it, Each week we would take our vehicle to the class and work on it, There is only one class left and I wanted to paint it there due to the paint booth, Need less to saty there were other people ahead of me due to CM and my sons birthday, So, Last night I almost pulled an all nighter sanding and filling minor dents, On my rear fenders I had some metal welded in the front of the wheel opening when I moved the axle towards the back, They needed a lot of attention as did my hood which in its previous life the hood must have been open when someone moved it into the garage or it flew open on the road :meh: So, To fill the heavier areas that I couldnt hammer out, I used Marglass/Bondo short strand glass filler which was a total PITA! after sanding it and re applying Marglass, Once this is satisfactory you can move onto the regular Bondo filler to smooth it out.
It was suggested to use a flat board sander with 40grit sandpaper to smooth it out, I found Harbor Freight had a pneumatic sander for $30.00 and I went to town, I sanded and filled last night for almost 7 hours.
Today I finished up a little bit more filling and sanding, Then the process of masking, It would be totally easier to use the standard paint paper where I had a roll of heavy packaging paper and painters tape.
I masked it, Started mixing the primer which is a high build two part epoxy primer from 5 star, Depending on how you mix it it can be a high build, regular build, or an epoxy sealer, I sprayed it with a $20.00 paint sprayer I bought from Checker Auto, No HVLP for me :flipoff2:
And here I am about to head out to paint it with a single stage mating blue paint, I went with single stage because I felt it will be easier to repair if needed, But who knows...Oh and it cost a bit less as well.
Hope that helps.

Looks great. Peel the tape, I wanna see what it looks like.

Thanks for the info!

Did you sand the primer before applying paint?
No clear coat? Is there a high gloss inside the paint already?
How many coats of paint did you use?
