Looking for good Trailer for the family

Looks like the existing coupler bolts on, so removal shouldn't be a challenge, but replacement might be. Seems like getting a short socket receiver replacement shouldn't be too big of a fabrication effort, but its hard to get a clear picture of exactly how that all fits together.

I would ask what the GVW rating is for the axle. All too often an axle that has too light of a rating is used, i.e. one seemingly appropriate to the weight of the trailer. What happens is that off pavement use kills the tiny wheel bearings found on those axles. I'd say that you want an axle of at least a 3500 lbs rating.

Is it hard to upgrade the axels if they are too low?

Depends on what they are. If Torflex and Timbren then not too difficult, but not inexpensive. If a leaf spring then not too difficult or expensive.
If they are leaf spring I'd want to know what leaves are used and if there are shock absorbers or not.

Anyone used a freespirit overland trailer?
