How much of an increase in strength are we talking about between the stock replacements and the HD's or 27/31 spline Longfields? What other alternatives are there? Any complications to think about or modifications that need to be done?

Vey little mod needed on the 62.

There is not suppost to be any grinding needed on the inside of the knockle but i had to do a tiny bit.

If you get the 30 fine spline birfield and the inner 30 axle the difference is huge.

But for light wheeling the Longfield 27 will be fine.

If you look at a rock and decide that by pinnion the throttle you can drive over it you need 30 spline longs.

If you drive around the same rock, the 27 splines will proably be just fine ;)

my bud got some video footage of me doin a small wheel stand cresting a hill this sunday. waiting on my buddy to stick it on dvd. then i will host it up. i havent even gotten to see it yet!! the ass would only say it was awesome and ill see it later...

oh yea. i plan on buying the 30 spline longs and keeping the stockers in some heavy duty freezer bags with grease as spares.

Good Dawg!

Just noticed the Longfield strength chart:

The 30 splines essentially make these into 1-tonne SUV's! For the additional $70 it seems to be worth just upgrading to the 30's just to have the reassurance of not having to consider a failure. Or, if they do fail, I think you'd have more problems than your Birfs.

I may just have to consider this...and never have to consider it again.

hey @cruiser88, what did you grind? and why? I'm having a really hard time getting this new trail gear 30-spline chromoly set (long side) to slide all the way into the diff.
