Good day all,

I am currently looking at either an aussie locker or Spartan locker for the rear of my FZJ70.

Not sure which one to go with and if it even makes sense.

Are they good on both road and off roading purpose and if so how does it perform on road. Will it make a lot of noise on the road and will the road usage do any damage to them? I drive a lot on the road but i so want a locker in rear for when i go offroading/mudding/sanding.

Thanks in Advance,
Dan

You've just perfectly described the need for a selectable locker.

ARB air locker
Harrop E-locker
Toyota OEM E-locker or cable (harder to get)

They are decent on road. I never ran into may issues with my old lock-right (pretty much Aussie locker). I prefer selectable lockers personally.

@lazylfarm selectable lockers just seem so expensive. Worst because I live in Jamaica and duty here to bring in any car part is about 50%. So a selective locker costing about $1000 will cost me about $1500 overall. The "lunchbox" lockers just seem so much cheaper for the traction.

Just depends on what you want to put up with, once you learn their quirks on the road the lunchbox lockers only make themselves noticeable in tight places like parking lots, u-turns, etc. I like them offroad since there's nothing to mess with, just drive.
I've been running them front and rear for about five years now. Also, they're all the same, just pick which ever brand is most convenient/least cost. One of mine is an Aussie and the other is a Lockright and I'm not sure which is which.

@cruisermatt the front locker is an 8 inch right? I've been looking for them on Ebay but I dont see any specific for the landcruiser. I do see 30 spline but for like the pickups.

Will it work in the front once it's for an 8inch? Or is there a Specific one I need to find? Would love to run lockers in front and rear.

Also for the front locker would I need locking hubs cause I dont have locking hubs at moment

Yes you would need locking hubs. It should be noted that you won’t be able to use 4wd on the street with a lunchbox locker up front. Too hard to steer and way too much stress on driveline parts.

You reckon that these would be it and would work?

@lazylfarm I want unlocking hubs anyways just cant seem to find any that may fit the fzj70. I just don't want to order and bring it in and it wont work as that will just waste my money. But definitely if I'm going to run the locker in front I would use locking Hubs
