My 2L-t bundy has started making a knocking noise in third, fourth and fifth gear it hasn't effected the performance of her but the noise is getting worse. I thought it was my tail shaft to begin with because the noise sounded like it was coming from there. if the gearbox needs replacing what can i put in.Can anyone help me diagnose the problem thanks

Its not the exhaust knocking on something is it? Maybe you have bad engine/gearbox mount or uni joint.

Put the transfer case in neutral and run through the gears like you were driving on the road

Gearboxes dont usually knock, they whine,grind,scream and crunch

check the idler shaft on the transfer case ?

Thanks guys. I was driving it yesterday and the noise started thumping violently even when I was rolling in neutral . Ill start pulling her apart once I can get it on the trailer home.
