I have the washer installed correctly and the inner tie rod screwed in. How are y’all bending the washer’s tab toward you? Thanks.

Figured that out but now the crown nut is past (below) the cotter key slot of the joint shank. What gives?

You can add a washer if you want. The castle nut looks fine though. Just make sure it's torqued to proper specs.

Proper way is one leg down other over top. But even if just over top. Butt end is in key hole, just not much. Provided torque procedure and size cotter pin used. Which is torque to 90ft-lbf. Then continue clockwise, until useable key hole lines up. Castle nuts, will not come off or likely move at all.
