I havent seen my 55 for a few years now, not sure what kinda shape it's in. It's sitting up at a buddies acreage in Powell River, for some weird reason the wife wouldn't let me park it on the front lawn.

Thats when you reply: thats what I was thinking too Honey, I'll just park it in the backyard:D

Only solution is move further east, buy something with a bigger yard and a big shop!

Oh I have thought of that. But my 30 km, 1 hour commute as it is now is far enough.
Years ago I did go look at a nice place out near the Sasquatch Inn, was right on that private lake there by Harrison Bay. But then I realized how far of a freaking drive that was to work.

That place sounds good, but I'd be careful with frontage on Kanaka Creek (or any rural creek in M.R. that is mapped). The District of Maple Ridge will impose a 30m setback from the top of bank for any new permanent structures you'd want to build (ie. that big shop we would all want to have). Although there would be plenty of parking space as is.

Tempting. That is a very good price - way cheaper than Abby. I wonder how much of a fixer upper that house is? Previous grow show?

Take a look with the zoom on the satellite:
Google Maps

I don't know if it was a grow op, one would have to look at the place in person. I know the area, it is quite nice.

Yes, you may have to deal with a 30m setback, unless of course you have some clout, like the develpers, and can get less than 15 metres.

True, but that really only works on major projects like subdivisions, and you have to offer up some form of compensation for variance and the setback relaxation. Maple Ridge is quite strict on their environmental regs compared to many other areas. Kanaka is identified as one of the lower mainlands more sensitive salmon streams, since it has so much of the natural state in tact. I doubt anything less than 15m would be possible, and in most cases less than 30m would not be possible.

Yes, this is all true. A good friend of mine has lived in Haney on the same property since the early 50's. His land is between two ravines, one wet and one dry. The district clear cut one ravine, the wet one, about 15 years ago. The dry ravine was created by the districts storm water management. The district wanted to fill and culver both ravines over the years but the owner wanted none of it.

Now the district is 'green'. This property has been closed in by development all around it yet the value of this property is now gone due to setbacks required.

I think it is so cute that the only people that don't benefit from development are the people who desired a country lifestyle and held out on development. Now the district wants the greenspace and won't allow development of those properties.

Or, perhaps I'm just jaded.
