Me and a couple guys went up Dumont and had a great time.

YJ jeep with lift and 31 mtrs, me with OME lift and 29 car tires aired down, surprising that the jeep sucked as and the cruiser just out wheeled it.

I had to drive the jeep up a hill as the driver was pretty intimidated, I had to use way more throttle than the cruiser which walked up that hill..:p

Good day, hit a couple lakes found some fun trails

Roof and doors off the Bj42 reminded me of what fun it is to get out in the mountains and enjoy crawling at two miles and hour and taking in the beauty of our trails..

I was being a little smart ass through a water crossing in low range and got hung up but was able to get it off the rock? or something , no one had a strap, winch, spare tire, tools NOTHING... Ya I know that was not a good idea..

Long and short, big tires and lockers do not make for a better outing..;)

Two mechanicals were battery related, poor maintence on the jeep, my old cruiser was flawless old girl..:flipoff2:

No pics sorry..

Sounds like fun but you know what they say without pics it didn't happen. Where exactly is Dumont anyway don't think i have ever been up there.

this is rob we're talking about here.

If he did take a pic, it would be of someone's foot, and the blurry blob in the background might be a cruiser.

Pulled the go pro out of the drawer, did not check batteries until we got to the trail..

I am going to wait but the OME is quite stiff as a heavey kit, prolly pull a leaf or two out of the back for sure.. Or might wait to build a rear bumper with tire swing out?

Only down side to going doorless and roof less, got slapped in the face a few times by branchs, damn that stings... We found a dead end trail that was really tight, 60s would struggle to get through..

Went out for about 4 hours, need to get out and look for a run out behind MT Benson to Dumont..

Po po followed me into work and gave me a vi cause I had the doors of and no mirrors, told me he could of leveled me with a couple 109.00 dollar fines that would of added up to 330.00.. Buddy street over owns a shop and will do my inspection wink wink.. I am looking into to the laws, I think jeeps pre 1986 to not need doors?

I thought it had to do with doors being optional equipment or not, and in canada, I don't believe they were optional, so something has to be on there.

I once got a lecture on how removing my doors was dangerous because my legs could come out and get pinched off in an accident.

Fair argument I suppose, but not from a motorcycle cop.

Wheeling trip sounds great!

Other part... not so much. Always with the VI those guys, it's like the go to move. If he had given you a ticket at least you could do some research, disputed it, win and then explain to the swine where he went wrong. (I'm sure he'd appreciate that)

I'm sure you'll be looking into the legalities of "doors off" and please post the findings.

Checked into it deeper, big thread on BC 4x4 and there is a rcmp on the board.. Jeeps only prior to 1986 that did not come with doors are exempt, otherwise all vehicles that came with doors must have them on..

Mr rcmp told me tube doors are unacceptable, was thinking a set of metal tech doors? Anyhew I will throw the front doors on and our friendly mechanic around the corner will stamp the piece of paper for me to take down to the cop shop...

Hard part of the whole thing was listening to two snot nose punks born in the 80s maybe 90s tell me how lucky I was:lol:..

Ya know, those soft vinyl 1/2 doors are legal. I also have a set of steel 1/2 doors in the shop. Could be borrowed until my 40 gets a motor, as doors are optional until motor is installed. :D
I got lectured by some 20 somtin in Medicine Hat couple of weeks ago, glad he cut you some slack.

I drove the 42 for about a month without doors and mirrors and passed lots of cops without a problem. I now have canvas half doors but still no mirrors and no one has stopped me yet and i see lots of Jeeps without doors and mirrors. I just bought some extendable swing away mirrors that bolt to the windshield hinge so if i get stopped i will bolt those on.

Still running around tempting fate, need to slap on the doors.

Might grab some mirrors off ccot... most jeapers will tell you the same thing, running around every summer for years without doors and no hassle.. Luck of the draw..

He was just itching to give you a ticket for something... What'd you do to piss him off :flipoff2:

I'm sure it's harder to hold up in court... Just like using turn signals... Saw a case in Vic where the driver got off for failurre to signal even though while rounding the corner, he almost clipped a pedestrian and didn't even claim to have signaled.

The cop complaining about no mirrors with the doors off but if you take a drivers test and you use your mirrors without a shoulder check they fail you. With my top and doors off i use the rear view mirror and shoulder checks and with no doors, top or sides to restrict your vision i think i have better vision of the road than using mirrors with top on.

Tube doors might get a ticket... But it likely wouldn't stand up in court... I'd bring in a tube door, and a soft door, and show them how much safer the tube door is.

FYI, Bennie caps arent legal either... But cops let them slide.
.

Good little read, pretty much exactly what I had been told.. Copper also said tube doors do not meet thier requirements what ever the fawk that is:doh:.
