What would be a good lift to get on my 62? Pricing?

Thanks

-Carl

Try Kurt at Cruiser outfitters. He is very knowledgeable about cruisers and has some very good prices. Shipping will be the main factor. You can always take his price and use it to get some local figures. OME is more than other lifts but by far the best. I see a lot of people with other brands having problems. The only thing you ever hear bad about OME is the initial price.

Alright Ill look into OME, what size lift would be good though? I'm thinkin a minimum of 3 or 4.

Thanks

Just looked up some OME lifts, cannot really tell which would be be best, I'm just looking for a 4 or 5 inch lift for my 62 plain and simple. Or would going to my local Toyota dealer be a good option?

Link anyone?

Thanks

-Carl

Depends on the size of tires you plan to run. Remember that the bigger the tire, the tougher it will be on your engine and brakes.

A lot of the questions you are asking and info you are looking for can be found in the 60/62 section of Tech. Start out with the FAQ and move on from there.

Carl there is no plain and simple lift for 60's unfortunately. OME is the most popular and there’s a reason for that. there are several threads in the 60 section all the time on this topic.

edit: your local dealer will be of no help unless you want stock replacement shocks

Ok thanks

A 2 1/2 inch OME lift is rated that much over factor springs. Most old 60's have sunk several inches so you end up with a lot more lift than 2 1/2 inches. You can also add extended shackles if you wish. The OME will allow you to go up to 33 inch tires which is usually the top end on 60's. To go bigger than 33 inch tires you will need major (in my opinion) mods like a springover or body lifts. YOu will also need to regear to keep up with tires above 33 so it add up very fast. There are several companies as I have stated that make lifts like HFS from cool cruiser and a few others but for the most part I have heard nothing that would make me want to use anyone but OME. I have never see anyone write about there OME saging or bending.

YOu need to browse through the 60/62 section and search some of the topics that interest you. The fact section has lots of good info on mod and what nots

This is a job you can do yourself. It is time consuming but not difficult. Lot of arm work.

Your probably right that it is doable by myself, but I dont have the tools or enough knowledge to do it unfortunately....

Hmmm thats tempting, which user is Rob? :p
Also will I need to register for Flat Nasty if I just show up or is that to participate?

tools need are sockets, lift, big hammer, small torch

Don't forget Alcan for quality suspension bits. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. IIRC Bob has Alcan's on his mini and I have a few buddies back east that are running them on their 40's and 60's.

Hey guys, I think I am going to go with that OME 4 inch lift and have the auto tech class at my highschool install it:D

Ill keep you guys posted

Your next choice is OME medium or Heavy. Lots of discussions on which one is correct for your application. If your going to do front and rear bumpers with armour and winch then def teh heavy. if not then the medium. If some mods then maybe med rear and heavy front. Lots of choices

I'm going to go with the heavy because I will eventually get bumpers and whatnot. I think the link about it is the heavy duty one because the pictures showing what it looks like on 60's have bumpers and other add ons.
