Well, the original plan was to install some new stock shocks and add a couple of 30mm spacers to the rear coils. Luke volunteered to lend his hands, tools and knowledge (see why he's Mr. Wonderful!) to the lift. Matt is pretty sure he's going to make it (thanks!) and Andrew is still thinkin' about it (come on!).

Then I figured if we're going to have a little lift party, I might as well get a proper lift. Talked to Justin today and I should have an OME 2.5 lift arriving at Red Line sometime Thursday.

So, if you're free Friday afternoon/evening and want to drop by, you're more than welcome. And hey, you might get to help lift the 100 off of me when my HF jack stands fail! Drop me a line if you're gonna stop by so I know how many dogs/beverages to pick up.

:cheers:

This might also be a good time for all of you 80 guys to see how a 100 series is lifted since you all secretly want to trade those tired old I6's in for a V8 with heated seats. :grinpimp:

So does the kit come complete or do you have to reuse the top cap part to coil overs. Mine came in pieces and I had to beak down my old coil overs. I then tried the spring compressor and once I finally got it compressed I couldn't get them back out. I had to bring them in to tire world and they used there hydraulic compressor and only charged me 45$ to do both. Just wondering. I also have heard of a way to do it without the spring compressor but have not watched the video.

Nice. Should be done in no time.

I hope so. I'll probably try to get a head start on it.... maybe do the diff drop?

Getting pretty excited about the idea of not being quite soooo close to the ground. :D

...or maybe we will swap V8's (or maybe a nice 12V;)) and add heated seats to our 80's.

Andrew is still thinkin' about it (come on!).

I will do my best, but I have scheduling conflicts!

Sweet! I bet you can squeeze in some 305's now :worms:

Just DVR whatever B-List Celeb reality show you're afraid you're going to miss and watch it later. :p

You're not kidding...

:worms:= can't fit big tire under body = rear tire carrier = $$$$
:worms:= 2002 and before has a 4 speed trans = needing regear = $$$$

:worms:= big rubber rubs = body lift = $ + time
:worms:= adding body lift = raising/adjusting bumpers and sliders to make up for 1 inch gap = time and headache

...shall I go on?

I'll probably be sticking with 285's for a while.

Do you need the diff drop? I only ask because it seems the percentage in the fj cruiser people don't do it unless it is over 3" of lift. Apparently you lose about an 1" of lift in doing so as well. I have been running the lift with no diff drop for 50,000 so far so good. Knock on wood., I know our vehicles are not the same I am just asking.

Yeah, most people run into problems quick if they don't use the diff drop. At least those who wheel do, those who don't wheel still have leaky CV's that they constantly tend to. The front suspension on the 100 is the limiting factor when it comes to lifting. 2.5 is the highest you can go, otherwise the CV angle gets to severe (then stuff starts leakin', squeakin' & breakin').

I like the FJ, 4Runner, Tundra, etc... coil over set up much more (a lot of 100 guys would agree). A guy over in Russia has converted the front end over to coil overs (using Tundra coil overs if I'm not mistaken) and has alleviated some of these problems. It looks to be a pretty big fab job to get the shock mounts stout enough for them though. The torsion bar design works well on a stock vehicle, but just gets a little wonky when you want to start lifting it.

Well it looks like I will be learning something tomorrow. I should be there. Do you need extra jack stands or do you have that covered. I have the 1 ton and I think the 1.5 ton as well. Any tools needed?

Cool. I think I'm good jack-wise. Not sure on tools. I'll reread the install instructions and see if there are any additional tools I'll need. Thanks for the offer.

Ready to go! Thanks Justin!

Huh, I would have thought there would have been more of you that would what to spend thier Friday evening watching a fat guy roll around on his garage floor getting all greasy and dirty. ??? ;)

Everyone is welcome to stop by for a beer / soda & hot dog if you're in the area.

I'm getting excited about liftin' the big girl !!!

:cheers:

Well..... 8+ hours later and the 100 is sitting a little over 2.5 inches taller. Looks a foot taller. VERY happy with the results.

Can't thank Luke, Matt and Andrew enough. Honestly, those guys busted their humps for me. Extremely grateful.

I'll try to grab some pics tomorrow. But it's time for some shut eye........

I am not fat, my mom said I am just big boned.

That's really funny. I'm "festively plump" lol.
You can consider my hump busted, my arms are tired and I'm a little bit sore from all the crawling around on concrete :) That cruiser put up a good fight, and there were several bolts that were pretty content to stay just where they were- and if anyone ever asks you to help them put rear shocks on their 100 series-- just run away flailing.
