lifter woes

The pics show the top insert is not pressed in against the shoulder. The 2 that failed for me just fell in that last ~1/16" while driving down the highway (sustained hi-rpm operation), causing those 2 cylinders to sound like diesel. If the tops were pressed in 'til they hit the shoulder, then machined to be the correct height, it would be OK.

Great job CCOT :clap: for taking back the sub-par parts.

I can't find new 2F lifters on Cruiserparts.com. Do we have any other options besides Toyota now?

I accidentally installed a couple sets of these when they first started coming into the US about 5 years ago.
The tops fell in on 2 of them.:mad:
Since then, only OEM style are allowed in builds.

OEM lifters are hollow cast one-piece.

Does this mean the OEM's are hydrolic lifters that compress and pump oil through the push rods? Thanks.

No. They are a hollow solid tappet lifter
