Looking for opinions on who makes the best 2.5-3" lift, either off the shelf or pieced together. A middle ground of something that flexes really well and isn't too harsh to drive around town. Will have sliders, front and rear bumpers, winch, etc. cheers!

Old Man Emu. Can't go wrong there. There are other good lifts. Just my 2cents worth.

Can't go wrong with OME.

I just installed a OME 2.5 inch lift (medium) kit in my 1994 FZJ-80 last week. I can not imagine a better lift and system available. The truck drives and rides absolutely wonderful. Such an improvement it is hard to describe. I believe it to be the perfect balance between trail and DD function.

I think this depends really on your intended usage. I have the OME "heavys" on my 94. I really couldnt be happier. This lift may be to "stiff" for some folks, but my truck is built with the intention of being "perfect" on loaded down road/offroad trips 4 people, dog with all the gear to be out in the woods. It does have the "stink bug" look when unloaded. But in my opinion thats what an expo rig should look like. FWIW. The last long trip was as stated with 4 mountain bikes,raft,3 coolers, all food/supplies unsupported for 10 days.
FYI I have stock front and rear bumper,no sliders, with a full length steel roof rack.

With a lift that size I would look at TJM's progressive rate coils. I have TJM coils and steering damper. It rides really nicely and they aren't profeessives, just base level springs. I will probably go with some progressives or heavies when I downsize.

TJM coils with bilstiens 5100s

I am a big fan of Slee's suspension, sped'd to the weight you expect to carry. I have used OME coils and shocks in the past, as well as other brand names, but I tried Slee's coils and shocks on my 80 and really like the ride (fairly heavy armored/bumpered/winched/dual battery/drawered truck). I have since put Slee coils on my 100 series as well. I have not tried TJM so no experience with them.

Very happy with the std OME 2-1/2" kit. Ride is much better than stock. Wish I would have installed the front spacers from the start.

OME was the best bang for the buck...back in 2006 when I installed mine, with the 30mm spacers up front.:D

OME is too much $$ for what it is. anything ARB is too much $$$ for the same thing TJM sells! So, if you are asking best? I guess the question would be best bang for the buck? best at carrying weight?....what are your objectives? comfort? Load it down with trail spares, drawer systems? fridge? etc....

My friend uses OME J springs in the rear with OME heavies in the front and still sags in the rear because of all the weight.

Performance over comfort but still tolerable. It's a ten mile daily (for now) that spends its weekends exploring trails, fishing, camping. Just looking for something that will give me 3" of lift with good articulation and won't be sagging with gear and hopefully not stink bugging unloaded.

I would say go OME. I'm a fly fishing guide in wnc and i have a 97 with custom front and rear bumper. I haul coolers, gear, and sometimes 3 clients in the car while pooling a raft. No sagging at all and it still handles great with the heavies front and rear. I put a 1.5 inch spacer up front so it stays level when not loaded. I pieced mine together finding springs on ebay and shocks from toyota of dallas. Personally only spent a grand for the lift. ARB is a trusted name in the offroad world. I take mine camping and load down more then enough gear for a week camping with 4 guys that all fly fish. Tons of gear in the back and pulling a drift boat without any sagging.

I'm think ome 3" competitions on the rear and 4" in the front. Just trying to decide on shocks now. Thinking something with a piggyback.
