@Canavie

Any plans on upping the hardware and software spec?

I have had a few Android head units and all of the quad-cores with 1-2 GB RAM were extremely laggy and would freeze up often. Also, many of the main players in the Android HU space are using Oreo (version 8.0) at a minimum.

I didn't start seeing acceptable long-term stability/performance characteristics until I reached the octa-core w/ 4 GB RAM level.

For reference here are two examples of Android head units that have met or exceeded my expectations:

I thought I would start a new thread to feature the upgrade I will be doing soon. I have ordered a 10" replacement screen to replace the factory small screen on my 2006 LX470. The new screen incorporates the use of Android OS, allows MP3 music files, WIFI, etc. A link to the actual product is Lexus LX470 Capacitive screen car pc radio pure android wifi gps navigation_Car dvd player GPS navigation Manufactory

I reviewed the video. My first concern is the radio on the video does not appear to be similar to the picture shown on their site. I have already wired the money and they are promising shipment by Friday of this week. I'll post updates as I start this project. This is also suppose to allow me the use of additional inputs on the rear, integration of climate control, factory rear camera, steering wheel controls, etc.. Essentially allow you to update your 10 year old truck with some decent technology.
Just finding this... Did it work?? Would love to see it!

I would like to see further updates on this. Most of the pictures I am seeing online show the overseas cruiser models with separate climate control modules. I do see the pictures in this thread of a full unit that handles all of the climate functions as well as entertainment titled as the LX470 version. It would be great to have further install info, pricing, and any feedback from owners with them currently installed. It looks much less expensive than doing the middle east harness and climate control conversion. Any updates from Canaviet?

A little revival of this thread as I was looking at this to replace my 04 LC NAV that blanks on and off due to the solder crack issue.
Had a question and a theory.
Since the Canavie unit uses the OE circuit board that has the issue with the pin 60 that needs re-soldering I'm assuming the canavie unit wouldn't fix that problem??? Unless not all the pins in that harness are used anymore.
Just a thought.

For a while, I followed the posts in here and before long, I ended up buying the Canavie Tech 10" unit direct from Andy of Canavie Tech. in Shenzhen, China.

Andy of Canavie Tech was very helpful throughout the whole process of installation by a local installer, he was online in Whatsapp while the job was being done.

All the time, Andy had some sort of User Manual, but he did not give it to me until I asked. (It should have come together with the machine or at least an indication where it could be downloaded!) On installation, I followed the video found on the Canavie product site in Aliexpress.com, the language used was spoken in Mandarin but the conversation in the video did not contribute much to the installation, my installer made so boo-boos but Andy was at hand to help sort out the problems.

The finished result worked very nicely for the music and android sections. The android system worked, the radio worked, and the air con section, although worked, had to be configured as LX4700 while my unit is a LC100. If I configure it as LC100, I could not raise/lower the temperature settings, small matter but irritating.

As for the Traffic info section, I would like to caution owners of cars from the UK and USA to accept that there is no Traffic Info in Miles per gallon, you have to take the garbage in Kilometres/Liters (Therefore I can say the Traffic info is of no use for cars in the UK and USA. My car was imported from UK and I now get rubbish data in km, km/lit on the screen. Andy mentioned to me that they do not have a setting where one can change from Miles/Gallon to km/Lit and they do not intend to correct that!.

So there you are! I might as well buy a unit without the traffic info and save a lot of money! (But you still need the air con section!)

Overall I am pleased with the unit's new found performance but the lack of traffic information is disappointing as I do 4X4 overland journeys regularly from Malaysia/Singapore to Vietnam, China, Laos, Thailand etc, now, the traffic info is lost!

Additional Photos...

The CD feature is lost, no sweat with the double pen drives that could store so much more songs. videos and data.

The radio controls is still retained at the original panel.

The original red alarm blinking light is gone forever !

@Chin Fook La: Any chance of showing us the PDF? The 'set it to LX470 instead of LC100' was new to me.

I removed my unit (after 2 weeks test) and it's sitting on a shelve in its original packaging (here in Belgium) since mid-2018.
