We (Cruiser Outfitters) are massively beefing up our steering parts offerings. For over 20 years we've offered OEM and Japanese steering parts for the 40, 50, 60 and 80 Series. In the more recent years we've added 70 Series applications and OEM replacements for the 100 & 200 Series. Well the time has come to up our game in the 100 steering realm and we just received our first big shipment of Japanese (555) inner and outer tie rod ends for both the 98-02 and 03-07 variants

So, here is where I need my Mud family. How do you want these? Inner/Outer TRE's as a 4-piece combo (inner and outers for both side), outers only as a 2-peice kit?

Pricing is nice (IMO), to replace the 4 joints with OEM (and we stock those too) it would be ~$675 retail at Toyota. Even with a good discount you're still in the $500 range to replace the 4 ends or ~$150 to replace just the outers. I think we are going to land in the $187.50 range for all 4 or $75 range for the outers only.

For those looking to have a nice trail spare kit the inner/outer combo would be ideal but is it too much for the common replacement? So what have you needed on your 100? Inners and outers? Outers only?

You had to post this right after I replaced my steering rack... So in that case I'm just going to be wanting outers.

We have replaced several 4 piece sets in the recent months with our regular Walk-in Clients. Along with the bellows as a "per case". Great work on the pricing comp. side, it is within reason and competes with other name brands.

This is definitely a good time to offer these items as a per-maintenance and as a business with the recent higher mileage LC's coming up, everyone will most appreciate it.

Best wishes with the new product.

For that price I would do all 4 even though I believe the inners last much longer than outers.

How is the quality compared to OEM? Is the steel comparable? I know you sell good stuff I am just curious.

And important to note that a new rack comes with new rack ends (inners), in that case the individual outers is the clear winner.

We will always offer the loose ends (as we do the 4x/5x/6x/8x stuff) in both OEM and Japanese flavor!

What other name brands have you been using?

We are excited to have them. Our sales of OEM offerings has risen sharply for the 100 ends in the recent years and many of those customers asked about the aftermarket option.

Best wishes with the new product.

Thanks! Let us know if you need some in the future, we absolutely offer them wholesale too!

Great feedback. I've actually had equal replacements on my personal 100, I've done 2 sets of outers and 2 replacement racks (all OEM Toyota) in the last 75k. One rack was inner rack play, the other was in fact rack ends so I would have love to have these in stock at the time.

Great question. Dimensions, cross sections and quality appearance seem identical. The OEM Toyota version is pre-painted black, 555 no longer paints any of their ends so they need a blast of paint either before or after installation. We've sold/installed thousands of the 555 kits and 10's of thousands of ends themselves over the past 20 years and had fantastic luck. I expect no different out of these over time.

I just changed out my inner TRE's. The shinier ones are branded 555's. The grease on it makes it looked scratched but it isn't. If I had known Cruiser Outfitters was selling them I would've purchased through them knowing I would be getting an authentic product. Too many counterfeit auto parts out there!

No worries, you know now! :D

We had a few sets in last year that we used for local projects, now we have bulk!

Bump for the night crowd. What ends have you replaced in the past or what ends will you be replacing soon?

I went OEM rack and 555 outers recently. I've always been impressed with 555 quality.

I replaced inner rod ends on two of my 100s because they were worn. The outer ones were still tight, but replaced them on one because the boots were cracking and I couldn't source a guaranteed replacement fit for just the boots. It seems the outer ones are much beefier than the inner ones. I used the 555's and they seem to be of very high quality. Only thing I added was some paint to the outer ones as they come as bare forgings.

These kits are finding their way to new homes but I've had a bit of feedback about the jam nuts, as of current they are not included with the kit but rather than have you re-use your old one we are adding them to future kits. It will be a week or two before that happens so for any of those that already ordered, you need to grab these if you want to replace your jam nut: 90170-20003 (quantity 2)
