Hey guys,

I have a low beam headlight not working as you can see in my picture. I’m looking at listings on eBay for dual LED headlights. All have this note saying it’s not compatible with the HID. I am assuming my low beams are HID. Is this a fitment issue, electrical issue? I see some threads talking about some retrofitting but not sure when it’s applicable and what is involved. Posted the pic of my truck and a pic of the lights I’d like and the eBay listing.

What is your goal with the headlights? Improve the lighting situation or a do a cosmetic change to the front? Or something else?

$800? No.

LX has halogen projectors that allow for an acceptable beam pattern with 35 W HID’s. I would start there. This style headlamp would most likely be a sealed unit, and given that there is zero history with these, I’m betting you would have a headlamp failure within one year. This will result in having to replace the entire unit, and good luck getting a warranty filed.

A majority of these Chinese projector headlights are the lowest quality LED chip sets, and be a marginal upgrade over even halogen lights in inclement weather

I would say cosmetic as well as functional.

So from a functional standpoint, a guy can plug and play bulbs for the high and low beam? Do guys stay with halogen for the low beams and do LED for the high beams?

I installed AUXITO LED's for the 100. Did have to modify the collar to get the cree LED's to orient sides 3 and 9 O clock (instead of top, 12 and bottom, 6 O clock) once fully mounted into the housing. It is very bright and pretty happy with the output. The Cree is located at the actual filament of a H3 so light will focus as an ordinary filament bulb. Auxito have two H3 bulbs: 16 Cree LEDs per bulb or 12 Cree LED's per bulb. The one with 16 is very bright.

Listen to @2000UZJ, he knows a few things about lights IMO.

I sent my housings to LightWerkz in New Jersey, and they set me up with dual-projection lens and LED holos/signals. Wasn't cheap, but it looks and works incredible. I can't recall the cost, but they bang these out all the time, do good work, and have good support. Completely modernized my 2006. Lighting, Redefined.
