Hi Folks,

I’ve been dealing with a leak in the rear quarter panel where the jack stays. After doing a water test, I worked out the wheel’s flicking water up into the quarter panels when I drive through the wet. Just wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue?

For reference, it’s a 2022 LC76 GXL.

Hello,

The rear quarter panel has a plug. If it is missing or damaged, water comes in.

It is on the side facing the fuel tank, below the corner where the taillights are.

You can also remove the jack holder and take a look from the inside. It is a bit cramped, but you can reach the plug.

Hope this helps.

Thanks mate. I’ve finally tracked down the leak — it was tucked away in a spot you’d never even look at 😂.

Turns out it’s just s***ty underbody caulking from Toyota. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a Covid-era build issue. I’ll raise it to the dealer and see what they say.

Just an update car is still leaking after I caulked s*** out of my car😂. Will try some luck at the dealership next week.

This may be a reach, but would it be possible for the "Rear Louver, Ventilator" allowing water in, versus just letting high pressure air out? I live in the desert, but I have to clean that area out on a routine basis. I keep my tool bag nest to the jack, and I get all sorts of dust in there every few months. Passenger side of car has no issues, so maybe that illiminates the Ventilator as the culprit. It can be several inches of dirt / fine dust every few months at the bottom of the interior section of the quarter panel. I replaced this part when I painted a few years back, but I still get way more dust in that area than I like. I need to check for that Plug!! Maybe I need to check my caulking as well. Who knows. It has been quite a mystery for me. I'm in the PNW right now and it is raining. No water yet, fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice mate. I did a water test on my car and I’m dead sure it’s coming from that spot but nowhere else. I’m not too worried about that dust. During a wet day the water could pond up all the way to the top and splash around. It’s weird that water doesn’t go down once come into the cavity.
