Has anyone seen land cruiser wheels where the barrels were welded in reverse? A wheel repair shop sent me these photos and said this is very common when modifying wheels and they are better able to go up a wheel size and achieve the desired offset. The one pictured is an FJ60 wheel (15x6) center welded in a 16x7 barrel with 2.5 inches of backspacing. Just looking at the shape of the barrel, it seems that the reverse side may not be as strong as the side of the barrel intended for the front, especially in an impact situation. Curious if anyone has experience with running similar wheels and using them Offroad?

Very common when running low backspacing, less than 3”. I had reverse center wheels on my old 4Runner. Downside is the tire has to be mounted backwards.
You can buy reverse center shells from most steel wheel companies

On images above looks like still on inside?

Thats not normal. If you buy a reverse center wheel the hole is on the outside. That looks like a normal wheel flipped backwards.
