Hi -

Looking for the front drive or propeller shaft for a '87 FJ60. I actually just need the front slip joint, but I am willing to buy the whole thing is someone wants to sell it as one piece. Went to lub mine today and grease came out by the spider joint instead on going back into the slip joint. Please pm me if you have one you want to sell.

All you need is a freeze plug to go in the end of the yoke. You'll have to press out the u-joint to install it, but that's way cheaper, even having a shop do it, than buying another shaft that is overpacked with 30 year old grease and waiting to see how long before it blows ITS freeze plug.

Just sayin.

Thanks Mark - I might try that as my first option. Glad to know that is an option as I did not find that in my search.

Also, I did find a replacement shaft. Thanks everyone.

I sent him a nice slip-yoke with a new u-joint and with only the minimum amount of grease, but thanks for the info, as one of my others in the stack (that I had originally planned on sending him as it was in my 85-87 front) had an obscene amount of grease coming out and this was why. Learn something new every day.
 
Even after wrenching on cruisers for 31 years, I'm not in the least reluctant to admit I'm still learning. That's part of what makes MUD great. The rest is the people.
 
Now, got a part number for the plug so I can fix mine and maybe if the OP wants to give his a shot too? :)
