Landcruiser vs. Tire, is it totalled?

Here is a thought. Imagine if ...

If we are going to play that game... Imagine if, it bounced a couple of feet higher, could come in through the windshield and a Yaris would have sailed right under it. A Yaris is much more nimble, could have swerved a couple of feet to driver and completely missed it, something that a fat, lifted Cruiser is incapable of.

The "Imagine if" game doesn't work well with accidents, what happened, happened. If you are a steering wheel holder, the plan is to just plow through whatever comes in your path, a tank is best, if you are a driver, a more nimble rig is often better. An accident that you are close to, is always far superior to any accident that you are in.

I have the same bumper and wheels!
Glad to see that it can take a good impact at hwy speeds.:)
Most likely the insurance will lowball. Take it to a couple body shops to get some estimates yourself.

Ads from ebay and CL with 80's that have similar mods/options can help as well showing market value for your rig and not just some made up value in an insurance system for a stock vehicle. Servicing records and receipts will also help maximize the value given to your vehicle when insurance looks at it.

Example, according to Kelly Blue Book my M3 is only worth $3600 private party. If I listed my car for that price I would be surprised if my ad lasted more than a half hour before someone showed up with cash because cars like mine are currently selling for $6-9K and as high as $15-17K if they have less than 90,000 miles.

Standby.

Forgive my inability to quote a post properly.
Allow me to retort, with respect and love,

Although it's true that the 'what if' game could be an endless exercise in philosophy, my intent was not to debate the powers and pitfalls of nihilism or determinism.
Simply an observation, and expression of either luck, if one is so inclined, or possibly a compliment on the original posters choice of vehicle, if that be the case.
If it was right hand drive...
If it was rainy...
Foggy..
Going five mph faster or slower or an infinite number of variations would have an infinite number of different outcomes..
Would a motorcycle been "nimble" enough to zip around the obstacle? With a relative closing speed approaching 100 mph? Would said motorcyclist be safer?

To be clear, I am sad about the damage done to a fine specimen of solid engineering. I am glad that it happened TO such a fine specimen of fine engineering. It performed as it was designed to.

My comments were more about solid physics than about destiny.

Love to all, stay safe, and yes, I believe my 80 series land cruiser and my wife's Sequoia to be safer, overall, than a subcompact car. My experience as a firefighter, my familiarity with insurance actuary tables, and my personal observation support this hypothesis. My wife has a much more frequent hands on perspective as a trauma nurse, and concurs.

Again, stay safe, drive slow, being involved in an accident that costs someone their life, even if you are not at fault and "chance" is to blame, well, it changes things.......

do have a good look at the bumper and frame horns, though, if the tire hit the bumper at high speed, that is indeed a serious impact...
