Hi all
Would anyone have advise how to rectify the following.

On my V8 petrol Landcruiser the battery is not charging. The three relevant fuses have been checked all ok.
There is no power feed into the alternator. Is there relay for this charging system ?
The voltage regulator is built into the altenator

The car has a pirhana duel battery system but the mechanic said that would have no problem that effects the charging system.
Regards

10 amp FR-IG fuse and 7.5 amp ALT-S fuse are the main ones. There is also a 140 amp fusible link near the battery which is in the alternator output circuit
You say it is not charging?
How do you know it is not charging?
Is the charge light on in the dash?
Is your battery flat?
Are the headlights dim?

The BIG QUESTION
What is the voltage produced at the main(BIG) terminal of the alternator?
Is it 13.2 volts or above when the engine is running?
If it is the alternator is charging.

If not, what is it and when was it charging last?
Was it before the dual battery system installed?
More info required as to why it is not charging if we get this far.

ditto the above and where are you located ?? so we can point you to a good / reputable place to check it out and fix it
cheers

Use a jumper wire to short the isolator. Some isolator's don't allow the alternator to "see" the battery and consequently the alternator's internal regulator won't energize, however this wouldn't be the reason why the alternator isn't getting power via its harness.

man,

i have the same problem right now. i have replaced two alternators and same problem. on first installation of the alternator, when i turn ignation key to on, the battery indicator will show and once i start the car, the light goes off.

after a while, if i off the car and put it to on position, the battery light will not come on again. this is how the first one behaved before changing it. the alternator voltage will raise as i raise the rpm to 2000 or above.

i have checked the 7.5amps and 140amps fuse. where can i get the FR-IG fuse? i checked the fuse box inthe engine room and no fuse with such label

secondly, i found out the battery voltage is always dropping down the next day.

assistance is highly apprecaited.

thanks
