A long overdue debrief from the Expedition...
Started the trip off in Gold River with
@Toshi38, @Gsb15,
@Koopz + buddy (Andrew),
@cspence and I. We left around 1030am after a quick fuel up and beer run, heading straight for Camp Lake as a starting point. Knowing
@Sweatyforehead, @ColinStuart, Tamara, Chris and Steve were to join us in the evening it made sense to have a camp close by. We arrived at Camp lake before noon, had a quick look around, grabbed a beer and took off. Graham led us on a nice little trail that looped back around to the site, only had one puckering moment as my rear passenger tire caught a stump and violently threw the truck over before bouncing back on solid ground. Once back at camp, a slow race was in order...Keith took the bragging rights on this one. Off again down some bush ridden trails to a point where "I'm pretty sure that's not a road anymore, hes just driving through forest now...". Then The rain set in and we headed for camp. Arranged the trucks more times than I can count to get the ideal tarp set-up and fire pit in the best location. The weather was interesting to say the least. Never before has the Island lived up to its reputation of sporadic weather changes. Chris and Steve arrived around dusk and set up quickly. Knowing Jordan was soon to arrive, a plan was hatched. With Steve in an old Navy Jacket, VHF+mic and a BF flashlight, a Red and Blue strobe set up on the dash of the cruiser and a truck full of laughter we waited for the headlights. Got em, what a riot. Haven't laughed that hard in ages.
Day 2 was full of weather as well. We promptly departed Camp lake and headed to Kunlin Lake just out of Gold River, after exploring the area in search of a campsite we came up somewhat empty handed apart from some very tight trails, which wouldn't have allowed the two vehicles carrying roof tents, entry. There were spots, but not without risk and figured we could do better anyways.
Off we went, back to town (gas station) for some fuel and pizza. Decided to head up the Nimpkish River Valley towards Woss in search of a site. after an hour or so of some beautiful country, smooth logging roads and some sunshine we came upon a trail. GPS said there was a lake not far so up we went. not a minute later we arrived at a quaint little lake with a private dock, outhouse and plenty of room for all. A sunny afternoon and a late night full of swimming, drinking and laughing found us on our last day....Sunday.
Early to leave were the 70 series convoy leaving 2 60's and an 80 at the site. I somehow picked up a co-pilot in the early departure. Graham left him sleeping in my passenger seat!...@Toshi38. We slowly packed up, and headed for Woss. Stopped at the loading area/ Log Sort for the Englewood Railway for some quick pictures. The Lucky Logger Pub was closed much to our chagrin. thankfully the cooler was stocked full of the beer we so desired and the picnic tables were empty...
We then convoyed to Elk Falls for a walk in the park before saying goodbye and heading for the late night, comox lake adventure

after that I, the last one standing headed for tofino with a meager 2hrs of sleep. for over an hour, thinking something had gone wrong as the truck was slower than usual. 16psi was the culprit. Spent the next day and a half with a few friends in Tofino Drnking Coffee, Beer and lounging around on beaches, in parks and on benches before heading home and back to reality
Great Trip Guys, looking forward to next year!
