One key specification that’s never mentioned or noted anywhere is…
Headroom.
The LC has over an inch more headroom than the 4R. (I think).
That’s reason enough right there to choose the LC.

Along with this is the seating position and the forward view. It used to be that any legitimate off-road vehicle had a design where the hood and dash obstructions to the front were minimal. You want to be able to see the end of the vehicle and where each tire is being placed.

Somewhere along the lines some vehicles and some manufacturers lost that. Rather than design it back into the vehicle, they added trail cameras and other tech to ameliorate the poorer visibility.

Other vehicles still have it. One of the reasons I bought my LR4 almost 9 years ago is that the driver sits up high, the dash is minimal, and the hood design doesn't have any superfluous humps that block the driver's view. I've also driven a few G-Wagons. The visibility on those is excellent. It's almost like driving an aircraft control tower.

I haven't sat in a new 250 series yet. They don't get to my area for another month or so. But early reports have said the visibility is very Land Rover-esque.

I just don't see the new 4Runner having that kind of visibility. It seems more like one of those vehicles where you feel like you are sitting in a bathtub.

Does the 6G4R get the center differential from the 250 or the transfer case from the Tacoma?

Depends on the trim. Limited should get the full-time 4wd case
