Ya, I definitely re-discovered how *iffy* or concerning everything feels when alone, heading into unknown territory...realizing there is no one around to help if it goes wrong (and no winch yet). But I do admit there is an added kick to making it that way. I don't know if I'd recommend it...but wow. As you know too...when you reach the top? What a shock! Just BOOM and suddenly the slow climb becomes a view like no other!

What a shot! Wow. But I still can't believe you did it solo!

I hear one man's "brave" is another man's "stupid..."

Personally, I find that stupidity is a fantastic bravery booster...! :hillbilly:

Seriously though, I did most of my wheeling damage on the way DOWN Top of the World, because I completed the loop...rather than return by the same right-side path I took up. If you ever go again, avoid the loop! Scraped up my wheels and bumpers pretty nicely on the way down. But oh well! What an absolute blast!!

If you guys go again next Summer? I'm definitely IN!! Hopefully bumpers by then... really a question of pocketbook status...

Yes. We were warned by Woody not to do the loop....I hope you are 100% for next year!- If w do the same thing with the 200s.

Looks like a great trip. Thanks for posting some awesome pics

200 series wheeling question -

How many of you use Crawl Control and where did you use it?

Thanks
I used it on some of the steep downhill's in Moab, works great for controlling speed...

I've used it going uphill in the snow - basically to let all 4 corners grind down to solid earth for something to grab onto.

I use it very frequently, going up and down. Sometimes I use it with my locker, sometimes I take traction control off entirely and use the locker (snow.) Really just depends on the environment, but crawl control is impressive tech. I've been in more than a few situations where crawl "found" traction I didn't think was there.

Up hill use is not all that?
like others have posted it works great up and down hill, sand or mud, I've played with it a lot! In Moab were the rock has such good traction I didn't use it a ton, but in the past I have used it from everything to deep sand at the ocean to muddy hill climbs on j**p trails. I also engaged it while going down the back side of Black Bear pass just so I could use the turn assist, which worked out great for the switchbacks!

Up hill use is not all that?
See my above posted response a page ago. While it doesn't look that tricky...there was a spot coming up Top of the World alone where I needed either rear lockers, or Crawl. Crawl got me UP AND OVER like a champ! Really does help in situation where lockers often help. One thing lockers retain, though, that Crawl doesn't is the option to gun the throttle for momentary momentum, as the throttle is controlled by the crawl function. You just steer. But wow. Once I FINALLY gave in and went to crawl mode? Up and over I went. So ya...Crawl IS "all that!"

I have been playing with "Ghetto crawl" in my 80 series (using my low range gear set and throttle lock:hillbilly:) and can see how it could be a fun option.

I see myself ever so slowly merging to the 200 series:worms:

Phil, most of these guys use crawl more than I do... just out of habit for me. Where I'm thinking I want to try it are the two ledges on HITR. Just not sure 100% convinced that it would be better than lockers since you really do need to build momentum to bump over some of that stuff... but you can be sure I'm going to try next time out there. And, if it doesn't work, I'll get to try out my new locker :)

I'm all for you getting a 200... so you'll build some of those windows for me!

Not much if any bump required, should be a good test for crawl. Let me know when you plan on leading the 200 on HITR Ill be there!
Note: Still time this year before the snow hits:flipoff2:

I had never used crawl to get past a barrier until that spot. Had the truck 18 months at that point. If I had lockers, I wouldn't have used crawl at all. My 100 had factory rear lockers, and those were used a lot. If I eventually rehear, a locker will go in too. I do miss locks, but meanwhile, crawl is absolutely a solid help.

@kreiten How many miles on your 200 now?

Also during the week what kind of service and duty does your 200 see?

Hope all is welll, friend
we have about 75k on it! During the week it's mostly just city driving, it's on the weekends that we beat on it! take care buddy!

Phil, I'm working on this group for HITR. Next year?

It's the other ledge was what I was thinking about where we all had to put on F/R lockers. That would be the only challenge that I see but can't wait to find out.

@kreiten really enjoy your photos, man. Keep 'em coming!
