Do you guys think that there is a big difference between KOYO and National Bearings - or any American bearing for that matter. Specifically wheel and knuckle bearings.

Matthew

Not 100% sure. The parts store guy said something about Pro-fit bearing as well. But I am just concerned that there might be some life issues.

I see. Well if it fits do you think its strength is an issue? I will just have to pull the old ones and take them in when I buy them.

If the bearing is high quality and the correct dimensions you will be fine running them. You are going to need a caliper to tell if the bearings are the correct dimension or look up the maker and number online to get dimensions. I have read many people get the wrong size knuckle bearings from auto parts houses.

You cannot go wrong with KOYO bearings, they are the original ones, after all.

i have no issues with national....sell them all the time at work, and they appear beefy and never had to warranty one.

if you do get nationals, make sure to get the races also. often times, even if a bearing has the same number, the taper will be different, so it's imperative to get a race that matches the bearing from the manufacturer.

timkens are the shizz in my book.

my bro-in-law is an engineer at one of their plants, so i guess i might be a little biased, ha ha.

Thanks for the info guys the knuckle bearing is PN 30304 at the parts store but a thread in here mentioned PN 30304a ... so I am going to measure them and I will let you all know. I doubt they will work.

I've been running National bearings on Japanese cars for over a decade. Never a failure. Some of the cars are used in AutoX. One is a V8 powered heavy performance sedan. One car is driven between 100-120 MPH. All uses are for high stress situations.

It is known in 1st gen 4x4 Tacoma circles that Koyo bearings come in a National box when purchased from O'Reilly.
