knuckle bearing/ races

i am currently trying to install new races for the knuckle bearings, and they are both (top and bottom) half way in, but will not go in any further. I have been beating on them violently with a heavy hammer and block of wood. they are in farily level and need to go down just a bit more, but stopped moving. I put them in the freeze for an hour and that did no good. I have put a large C clamp on the knuckle ball and tried to press them both in at the same time, but no luck. I need some tips/ tricks asap. I got the old ones out easy. I am using Trail gears kit. I have read over 4crawlers site, but no help.

i do not know mine went in fairly easy!

oh try a brass punch and tap around the circumference of the race!
or a race driver!
i used a race driver on these and wood and my brass punch on the hub races!

I am using Trail gears kit.

I think I found the problem.

They go in rough sometimes... I'd go to a metal place and get a 4 inch long piece of round brass that is wide enough to cover the whole race. Also hitting that axle with a propane torch may help spread it out a little... Good luck!!!

i do not think heating up the axle will help him drive the races in on the top and bottom of the ball for the steering knuckles!

If you heat up where the races go it will help. You can't fight physics...

yea but that would be the ball not the axle!

never mind i see where you were saying when i did mine the axles were out!
