The check engine light came on my truck - code 52. So last night I go and check on the knock sensor and it looked like it was broken. I must have banged it when I changed out the fuel filter. Is there a place where I can get one at a decent price? Will it harm anything if I drive the truck with a faulty sensor for a while? What effect does this sensor have on MPG?

truck = 92 22re

TIA,
ML

Just how "broke" is it? It may still function being cracked etc... It should not harm anything to drive with a bad sensor. Make sure the sensor is screwed in tight to the block also.... A loose one will set off the code, also if you stall the truck sometimes it kicks the KS code.

Just a little broke...:crybaby: It is really messed up!

Also noticed when taking the picture that the fuel filter was not bolted down at all. I must have left the bolts loose when I changed out the filter. An expensive mistake! I read another post where the filter can be placed (I believe) in the fender well -- that is what I am doing next.

Another KS question

On the Knock sensor... Do the numbers stamped on the side (on the replacement) need to match what I have on the truck now? Or will it work as long as the connectors are the same? There is one on ebay with a similar plug but #'s seem to be different. Seller says it will fit my year truck.

Thanks,

ML

Thank you all! I ended up bidding on one on ebay, got it for $29 shipped. Number did not match but the parts looked identical, truck is working fine now... Thanks again.
