Hello all,

For those that are around stock weight, went with king 2.5s and didn’t want to lift 4”.. what was the minimum amount of lift capable with the adjusters all the way up and the standard 600# spring?

King is struggling getting me this number, saying they think 1.5” but aren’t sure. They are saying if I want to keep it around stock height I can go to 500# coils, but that is the stock rate and not what I want to run.

I currently have stock suspension plus OE 10mm strut spacer, want to keep OE UCAs, and want to keep things as close to this height as possible, but very much like the specs and build quality of the king RR shocks.

I can't answer your question directly, but I would err on the side of too low as you can add preload and/or strut spacers. I have the King 2.5s with 700# springs, no preload, and the front sits higher than anticipated by me or Filthy Motorsports.

What's the motive for keeping the OE UCAs?
 
This is going to be relevant for me as well as my HE should be here in the next 2 weeks, and low lift/high capacity suspension will be the first mod, same as on my GX (debating between King and Fox at this point). On my GX I'm running Radflos with 600in/lbs and picked up about 3/4" with preload adjusters all the way out. No extra weight up front. I tried 650in/lbs and picked up ~1/2" over the 600s if memories serves (Radflow kept telling me I needed a stiffer spring to solve a specific issue and I kept asking for some heavier medium shaft speed compression shims; in the end I was right - the 650s made no different in the bottoming and swapping one stiffer mid stack shim in solved the bottoming condition complete).

Based on this experience my working assumption is that 600in/lbs on an LC, with the extra weight of the 5.7 versus the 4.6 and general heavier duty build of the LC but without any mods that add weight would be close to stock height? Anyway I am expecting to try both 600 and 650 for a low lift front (<=1") with a little extra weight up front (air compressor, BudBuilt AL skids, Slee sliders and maybe a second battery). I will have to measure the rake to decide which one I start with.

What's the motive for keeping the OE UCAs?

Primary reasons for stock UCA is avoiding poly bushings with their noise issues and grease requirements. I’m ok with not picking up the articulation benefit of poly, keeping those requirements in mind.

And that’s exactly my thought on height. I rolled a past rig and tend to take huge 7000 mile trips with plenty of highway. Low CoG and maintaining as much fuel efficiency as possible while not needing a buggy to run the rubicon have led me toward avoiding much lift.. but I do really want the larger piston and better damping of something like these kings for the times I’m on higher speed gravel. I’ve found the stock suspension plus OE strut spacer great in terms of height but quick to fade and too compliant in general.

While king couldn’t tell me the minimum lift, they did say their general goal with these kits with standard spring rate is to eliminate rake. Meaning they lift the front to get it level with the rear, assuming stock springs back there.

I take that to mean 600# springs will definitely put it higher than stock.

How much higher? Are you stock up front or do you have extra weight?

I can measure in a little bit, but I don't know off the top of my head. I have OME 2721s in the rear. ARB front bumper. Soon to be swapped for Rhino4x4 and Comeup winch. I talked to Ben at Filthy when I ordered and he was on the fence as far as 650# or 700# springs. He sent the 700s and I think I should have gone with 650s. After I swap the bumper and add the winch, I'll change to 650s if it's still too high.
