bare with me on this one, i know it's chat..........

some of you know that i have a 3 year old son, garrett. he's everything to me. i'm divorced from his mother but i have joint custody so he spends one week with me and then one with her. the week before the crawl he was here with me, this week he's with his mom.

i txt him pics every day when he's at daycare, no matter if it's my week or not. he likes all the cruisers at the shop, big equipment, boy stuff. and we go for a ride on the forklift everytime he's at the shop for a visit.

here's a couple of pics.

garrett got to go on his first wheeling trip with me last year when he was 2. just a short day trip but he had a good time. babyseat in the front of the troopie, right next to me. LHD so that was fun in the starbucks drive thru! yes, he handed them the money. :)

this year he got to go on his first over-nighter; the "fj45 run". here's a pic of him with "his" troopie and at the camp fire.

a couple of weeks later we went to the anual marlin roundup. garrett's first time at rubicon and in the buggy. i was a little apprehensive but that little boy had the best time.

yes, he gets to pick out all his own clothes.

while i was at the crawl i sent him lots of pics of the cruisers along with tractors, cranes, whatever i could get a shot of while driving along the interstate.

and of course i sent him pics from the airport. planes, big trucks,...you get the picture.

i have'nt seen him since last wednesday when i dropped him off at daycare on the way to the airport. but today his 9 year-old step-sister abby sent me this pic.

abby tetx's me:

"garrett has packed all his things"

me:

"oh yeah, what's he doing?"

abby:

"he's going on a trip"

me

"where to?"

abby

"says he's going on a plane with you"

me

"really?"

abby

"yup. and he said he's ready to go now"

i'm guessing within the next couple of years some of you will be meeting him at cruiser events here or there.

but what i'm really trying to say is:

go give your kid(s) a hug!

cause that's the first thing i'll do when i get to pick him up from daycare next monday afternoon.

Sir I am giving my Boys away! do you want one?

English spoken... you know we're Mexicans!

.... educated to some extent!

potty trained

....dont need help on eating,

... as a matter of fact, I have to keep an eye on my food and drink otherwise it'll disappear and blame it on Mom!

Honestly, having your kid/s around is a Blessing...

...a spark of light and joy in your life.

and a mind full of great memories of all the things they've done in their short life

I would trade anything in the world to keep those boys happy!

Spending time with your kids and showing them the right path it's a must these days!

our present days are nothing close to our times

George stay close to that boy, you are his #1 Heroe!

JP

Domek, do your boys know how to mow or lay tile yet? I would be interested in maybe renting or leasing the little one because it doesn't look like he eats too much. JK. They are great boys and I can't wait to meet your son Georg, I bet we can fix him up real good for daycare!

Georg, he is adorable! It's things like this that make my wife and I want to start trying sooner than later.

Good thread Georg.

We don't have any kids, but have 3 cats. We hug and love on our cats several time a day because they demand it and we're happy to comply.

I can't imagine having a kid(s). No doubt we'd love the kid(s) even more than our cats.

They grow up quickly so give them lots of loving every chance you get.

Good thing Garrett does not look like his dad.. ;-)

Charles

Georg,

Sorry I did not get a chance to meet him when I was in Cali.

Keep enjoying all those special moments with him. They grow up so fast and one day they are in high school and have their own scene going, then those moments are harder to come by. Parenthood is what you make it, and it looks like you got that figured out brother.

thanks JP!
that little boy manages to make me smile without even trying. that's what makes it so special. :)

careful what you wish for david, he can be a handful. just like any other kid. and fwiw, he's been "running" the daycare where he goes since he was 10 months old. likes telling people what to do. wonder where he got that?!

thank you. i did'nt know if i was "ready". then again, how does anyone ever know. well, i was. you'll never experience love like the one you share with your kids.

thanks chainsaw charlie. having met your cats i know that they must have been very good in a previous life. cause those critters are s***tin' in tall cotton.
i sometimes worry that i give garrett too many hugs and kisses. or is that impossible?!

thanks jeff. you'll meet him one of these days. i definetly need to take lessons from you. i know you guys got married early, had kids early and have been able to make it work for what, 20 years?! much respect.

garrett makes me feel alive like very, very few people do. i can only think of less than a handful. and they know who they are.

i'm trying very hard to be the best dad i can. my parents got divorced when i was garretts age so this is an absolute nightmare come true and something i wanted to avoid at all cost. my father was'nt around. so i know what i gotta do. well, i have a good idea anyways.

thanks again.

georg

Georg that's awesome! Lucky for me I only work about 9 days a month, 24 hrs at a time. I watch them on my days off, while the wifey works. Sometimes they can drive me crazy, but I would not want it any other way.

kids...

make me cuss and broke...

but I love them anyway, damn it!
